It came with the wifi remote, which I had no trouble setting up.

But getting it to work with the Gopro App on my smartphone is a total pain in the ass.

    Help?

Oops, this was supposed to be in the Science and Technology forum. Apparently RJ's new upgrade defaults everything to All Things Gay. icon_sad.gif

How do you like it? I've heard a lot of bad reviews on it.

I was thinking about getting the Contour 2. But no live view through a smartphone like the GoPro and Sony.

Just out of curiosity, which flavor of phone are you using? iPhone, Android, Windows? It could be the usual story where support for that particular platform is dodgy.

After trying everything, turns out my phone is just too old to work with it (1.5 year old Samsung Galaxy).

Everyone I know at work with the same GoPro has no trouble with it.

I bought into the contour universe, which may have been a big mistake. The iPhone app was the deciding factor, but it's crap. At least my version is clearly "beta." Devices won't stay linked for more than a couple of minutes. And of course, as soon as you hit "record" the link goes away. I haven't actually tried it in a couple of years - it may have improved through updates. Customer service is nonexistent.

They also sent out an ad about a year ago for some horrendously expensive radio accessory that would broadcast the video to a remote base station. Way out of the realm of casual use, but it looked cool.

I was also thinking about the JVC Adixxion or whatever they call it. It's great.. mini display, fully enclosed, smartphone app, interval recording. But the mounting points are strange. And the menu system is awkward.

I think I'm going to wait for the next generation of the Sony cam. I have better faith in Sony's Exmor image sensor. I just hope the next version of the cam has a better form factor that doesn't require an extra shell/housing.
