A thought ran across my mind a day - how did the association between gay males and "femininity" come about? Wouldn't it be more reasonable to say that gay males are more manly because they are interested in other males?

Just a passing thought really, but would like some insight on the origins of the idea/stereotype that all gay men act like females.

good question. that's one reason why i want to buy the homophobia, a history book that i saw last year in barnes and noble. pretty much broke down everything to why things were the way they were. check it sometime.

I'm guessing it came about because masculine gays stayed closeted and feminine gays just let it all hang out.
