The author of the book, When Ghosts Speaks, Mary Ann Winkowski says if a person does not go into the light when they die, the portal of light just doesn't stay there. The choice not to go into the light results in the portal not being as available as when first offered.

My take on it is God, probably, is like a parent, "Well, if you're not going to use it, turn the light off, or don't leave the door open, close the door."

If you miss your chance the first time around all you have to do is wait until someone else dies then jump into their portal... It's harder than it sounds because first you have to understand that you're a ghost and you can float through time and space. Luckily food is irrelevant. I might just stick around after I die and travel for a bit. Maybe solve some crimes, foil homophobes or just haunt the excessively rich.

If we die at the same time, can I grope you in the afterlife?
