    Was pretty good.
Basically (for those that aren't familiar with it)... it's one night out of the year when all crime is legal, including murder. Fot a 12 hour period there are no police, no fire figters, no emergency medical services, no nothing. You can committ any crime u want and get away with it.

Essentially, the movie is all about people wanting to murder other people.
"The Purge" bring unemployment way down, because usually the people being murdered are the poor, uneducated, elderly...basically people that are a drain on society. Therefore, ther economy is flourishing, unemployment is at 1% etc etc.

Would u participate in a purge night if given the opportunity? would u steal, hurt, vandalize other people's stuff if u could? Would u murder someone if u could get away with it?

That sounds scary, more like a zombie apocalypse night.

But no, I have a pretty hardwired moral system that I wouldn't be able to break even if I didn't get in trouble.

I think 'the purge' is in total contrast to the concept of 'society'. The reason why people come together to form societies is exactly to protect themselves against these things (i.e. crime).

My friends and I had the most philosophical talk about the morals behind it. In the end we decided that we probably wouldn't participate. But if I were to, I would definite get a katana and go slicing and dicing all of the people on my "hit list".

I had a chance to think about this while watching the film and I thought that if given a 12 hour window I would kill an old boss of mine. Just hypothetical.

What I found implausable about the film was the fact that the moral fabric of individual families would stay intact with each other while neighbors, coworkers, etc. would murder each other. I feel if a purge was implemented the world world go to hell in a handbasket. You would not be able to trust ANYONE, especially those closest to you. That's where the premise of the film fell apart for me.

    You'll get your wish.

I was shocked to see the premise of this movie as my next book is entitled "Crime Spree." I came up with the concept over a year ago:

"The year is 2045, and all the prisons are filled. You're allowed one free crime. What will yours be?"

Mine will be different from "The Purge." It will consist of about 30-40 separate short stories of people taking advantage of the situation.

Even if it wasn't for my rigid morals, I'd be too busy protecting what is mine to go out and commit crimes.

wouldn't minorities eventually be wiped out in the states? especially blacks and hispanics, they tend to be disproportionately economically disadvantaged.... so would likely be living in dangerous neighborhoods to begin with as well as living in an easily penetrable house add in a few white supremacists and poof nazi heaven :S

but the whole concept of this movie is hard to believe, i just can't get into it but maybe its because of hardwired morals and a respect for human life (aside from the lives of people who have taken other lives). I don't see how someone could kill someone one day and then not be frowned upon the next, especially if they killed someone you know.... i don't see how vigilante vengeance wouldn't follow the purge and create a kind of never ending domino effect of crime.

To be honest, it was one of the worst horror movies ever. watched in AVX for free (thank god) and it sucked big time. not scary, script is complete bullshit, as usual americans are full of themselves (theres America in every sentence). it was a boring movie.
