Washington's solution as to what to do about all these Syrians killing each other is to send them more weapons. *sigh* American people are so ignorants, when it comes to foreign policy in the Middle East. Don't they know that their U.S. government is supporting Al-Qaeda? Don't they know their tax money and weapons are killing civilian people in Syria, Palestine, Afghanistan and Iraq? Don't you know your President Obama is spying on you? Americans you guys are so stupid.

I'd like to see our country send a drone with Bashar al-Assad's name on it.

I agree with the person who started this topic that the USA should stay out of this mess. It's a regional issue so how about the Saudis or Egyptians or the UAE taking the lead here. And yes the rebels have voiced their support of Al Qaeda.

The US shouldn't intervene or meddle with Muzz countries. All that will end up happening is more slaughter, which is kinda inevitable when you give Muslims weapons.

It sounds like one side is just as bad as the other. Who on earth would one support?

As an American, it's not that I'm ignorant on the Middle East. I just don't care. It's the same garbage month after month, year after year. And I just don't care anymore whose killing who.

Reminds me of the reporter asking a US Air Force General which team he wanted to win in the annual Army-Navy football game.

The General replied: "I hope they both lose."

Meanwhile, here at RJ we periodically get these partisan Mideast posts, telling us how evil the other side is, trying to drum up support. Nimrod uses the novel approach of telling Americans how stupid we are for not following his political view. I'm sure that's gonna win him a lot of adherents to the cause. icon_rolleyes.gif

What I've been saying since I've been here. Doesn't work any better when its the democrats on RJ firing at the conservatives in a similar manner.

But back to the middle east.... I wouldn't oppose building a wall about 10 miles high around the entire damn region and let them all kill each other, which I'm sure wouldn't take all that long.

No the US should not stick its nose into Syria's internal conflicts. Our military cannot be burdened with anymore war committments. Most of our military forces are stretched beyond their means. It is time for these countries to solve their own problems. It is time for the US to mind its own damn business and start focusing on serious problems here at home.

The US is not a peaceful country, nor is it a broker for peace. Syria is a beautiful proud country with a troubled out-o-touch leadership, but it is being destroyed by a proxy war.

well if you live near or in Israel I would say if it was not for the U.S, you probably would not exist today.

As for Syria I agree we should stay out. Americans are tired of coming to the aide of countries namely Islamic countries only to be decried and attacked by people of the Islamic faith.

One example is Bosnia, the USA intervened on behalf of Muslims being slaughter and somehow in the end never received credit, when Europe sat on their asses.

the video you posted of Eric Harroun,a radicalized convert to Islam has nothing to do with America. He is one guy who converted to Islam and decided to go on Jihad.

The way i would solve this middle east issue is to withdraw all the funding we give to Turkey, Egypt, Israel , Jordan and let them figure out their own problems. The area is an overpopulated desert only because of money that pours in from the outside.

I am often very hard on Obama for his policies, but in this case I think he has done the right thing. The Syrians should figure out it own problems, or look to rich Islamic Muslims for help.

Obama knows better than anyone the disasters of Afghanistan and Iraq and will not intervene directly.

But there may be indirect means....

The rebels in other Middle Eastern conflicts, Egypt, Libya, etc. are a decidedly mixed bunch. Recent reports from Syria show the so called rebels to be pretty bloodthirsty lot.

Any interventions, however well intentioned and planned, are risky at best and full of 'blowback'.
