Hi, I am completely new to weight lifting, thinking about starting in a few weeks and have been collecting as much information as I can. There is just one thing I would like to figure out: I am thinking about buying a set of dumbells going from 20 to 80 lbs so I can do my workouts at home, I plan on bulking (21 years, 5ยด8, 147 lbs) and if I get to my goal then I could keep on a good size or go on a clean bulk, but the question: is 80 lbs too light for bulking as the time passes or should I buy a lot more heavy weight? Any help is welcome.

I think 80 lbs dumbbells will be heavy enough if not too heavy for the workouts you'll be doing in the beginning. If you continue to progress in weight lifting you could always use them for other exercises as it becomes more appropriate. Though I got to say, buying that many dumbbells must be really expensive.

Visit the gyms around you, join one and get some formal instruction. Don't even bother buying weights. If you can't join a gym right now learn to exercise at home. The only equipment you might need would be a chin up bar and a mat.
