Why is Cindy McCain always in the background?

For so long, every media shot of John shows Cindy behind him, half-assed applauding everything he says. I never see Michelle Obama doing this. She's out there doing her own rallies for the cause. Any thoughts?

Cindy McCain is not running for President for starters. Maybe she doesn't feel comfortable out there in front, and prefers letting the focus remain on her husband where, frankly, it should be. Laura Bush took a similar position during campaigns of President Bush, even when she was already First Lady.

They probably don't want her to open her mouth. She might suffer from foot-in-mouth disease like Mr. Biden

It's because she's a junkie and they're afraid she'll go all Courtney Love if she's at the front of the stage.

Better yet, why does Cindy McCain look like she's working that Playboy Playmate look at her age? She looks like something Hef threw out of the mansion because she got a little too old.

Cindy McCain says, "It's a state issue." This is one example of a dangerous slippery slope that is getting engaged. Calling social issues like abortion and gay marriage as a "state issue" is a full intent to avoid the US Constitution's mandate for equality, equal protection and privacy.

Check it out! I met Cindy McCain on Halloween, in the gay neighborhood in Chicago of all places.

Now that you mention it, they DO look alike. It must be the horribly pale skin with red combo... at least Courtney limited it to her lipstick, nail polish, and track marks.

Considering that the number 1 phobia across the population is public speaking, it's not surprising that some folks want to stay in the "background" - she might actually prefer to be somewhere else entirely! Who could blame her?
