Take your seats, students. I hope you enjoyed your long vacation, but our next lesson is about to begin.

Today we will be learning about posting pictures and videos into your posts at RJ.

While many may be familiar with this, there are finer tips to make your post more effective to readers.

First we'll start with a BASIC IMAGE.

You'll need the URL of an image you want to include. In most cases, you can Right-Click on an image you found on the Internet, to get the URL.

With Firefox, choose "Copy Image Location".
With Chrome, choose "Copy Image URL".
With Internet Explorer, choose Properties, select the URL, right-click it, and choose Copy.

Now that you have the URL, go to your RJ reply window. Right-click the area where your message is, and choose Paste.

Lastly, you need to highlight the URL you just pasted, and click the img button.

Go ahead and test it out with the RJ logo. Right click it, get the URL, paste it into a reply. Highlight the URL you pasted and click the img button.

    Advanced Image Tip:
If the image is too big or too small, you can resize it within your post without much trouble.
Make the post with the image, then click the Edit link for your post. You'll see the URL has some different coding around it. i.e. img src="URL"
Add this between img and src: width=250
    It'll now look like: img width=250 src="URL"
You can increase or decrease the width to scale the image up or down.

A savvy and considerate poster will use this trick when quoting others' pictures to make the forums a better place.

Don't forget you can Preview your message before submitting it, to check your work!

Lesson: EMBEDDING VIDEOS into your posts.

Videos are pretty easy to include in a post. You can embed (insert a video you can play) into your post with a simple copy & paste.

First, go to Youtube and pick some shitty dubsteb video that you sluts love so much. Look for the Share button beneath the video. Then click Embed. A box will appear with some code in it. You copy that code, and paste it into your RJ message. You can preview or submit your post now.

    Advanced Youtube Tip:
Impatient bitches don't want to wait the full minute to get to the chorus, so you can improve your chances of them even listening by making your video start just at the right time.
You need to look into the code you pasted for this: src="http://URL/bunchaletters"
To tell it to start playing at the 49 second mark, type this at the end, just before the quotation mark: ?start=49
To tell it to end playing at 2:20, add" &end=140 (140 seconds)
The code would now look like this: src="http://URL/bunchaletters?start=49&end=140"
Preview your post to make sure it's how you like it, and Submit the post!

And class, do keep in mind that the more videos on a page, the greater the chance your audience's computers will 'splode.

In conclusion, please use images and videos effectively and tastefully the benefit of your readers' time, and vision.

Can you teach a class for iPad users, PLEASE!!! I feel like an amputee with this gizmo. No mouse, no right click, no cntrl-click. No arrows, ugh.

Just point and click and hope that the desired command comes up.

Long press on an image doesn't do anything?

Thank you, SB. You are a true humanitarian. Now, teach some of our members how to quote someone's post without including all 1,200 lines, 16 pics, 9 gifs, 5 videos, and a partridge in a pear tree.

That's easy. Everyone on this site should email the admin and tell him to fix the forum software so that when you quote someone, you only quote their post, and not post that he previously quoted.

Just return your ipad and get an Android tablet. It's the tool of choice for power slackers. icon_lol.gif

So when you Copy and pasted in a reply, what did it paste? Was it a URL or it pasted nothing?

Try this. Copy. Then open a new browser tab. And then paste into the URL bar. If that works, then you should then be able to Copy the URL bar. And then paste that into the reply box.

Yeah, when they updated the site design, they took away the ability to do certain formatting in the forums and in your profile.

Thank you for the education Mr. Bitch. You are one of my most impressionable teachers. I always have problems with under-sized photos embedded from my Windows Live collections.
