"Opposites" Dating site?

Well, I've had this on my mind for quite awhile but never had anyone to talk to about it with. It's pretty inherent that in the gay community, guys will seek out men who are much like themselves (muscle for muscle, slim for slim, masc for masc, etc.) but there are always few exceptions to the rule where some guys like something that's the opposite of themselves.

It got me thinking because I have never seen an online site that did emphasized this kind of thing. I mean, I have seen a few sites like bear dating sites and chubby chaser sites but haven't really seen one for skinny guys or fem guys (or even masculine) sites. I'm quite surprised because I feel these sites would do fairly well. Plus, I think that maybe if sites like this exist, it would help gay men not feel like hating themselves. I'm not saying all gay men hate themselves but we all have our down in the dumps days.

So I have 2 questions really. Do you think that sites like (masc for fem/fem for masc, muscle for slim/vice versa, etc. etc.) would be a good idea? And 2, do you think it would help give more gay men confidence?

This thread sounds stupid I know but I don't care, I'm genuinely curious and would like to hear some thoughts.

A site like that wouldn't be successful. Most skinny men are probably attracted to men with muscle and most feminine men are probably attracted to masculine men, but the opposite is rarely true. I never heard of a masculine, muscular guy actually looking for a feminine, skinny guy.

Well sure but the world is big and you never know. Just because it isn't common doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Maybe if there was a site, it would bring out the guys who actually like their opposite?

I guess you don't browse the profiles much. There are plenty of opposite couples on this site, and on other sites. Just be patient. icon_wink.gif

I kind of see what you're alluding to OP but I think that maybe at best it'd only target a small niche of people.
Not because there aren't many opposites, I agree with you in the sense that there are, it's just that on sites similar to this it gets diluted through mainstream 'advertising' that it seems much less likely to occur in comparison.

The way I see it for myself is honestly a little bit of a gift in disguise.
Okay so I might not be 'cruised' (lol I've never used the word before so I'm hoping I used it correctly) in comparison to others.
I feel that whoever does show interest will be because they appreciated something different.

The key here, which I understand is easy to say but hard to do, is to not compare yourself because it just turns out toxic in the end.

Although answering truthfully, if a site were to be ever created I'd probably give it a go just out of curiosity lol.

Well I understand what you are saying. icon_smile.gif I guess I feel the same way when someone who I would never expect to like me takes an interest in me and it's most likely that they appreciate something that is different.

But yeah, I was just curious because while opposites don't always attract, that's not to say it doesn't happen every now and then and a site that promotes this might actually be a success but now that I think about it, like you said, it would probably be a small select of people.

When it is said that opposites attract that usually means people with very different personality types. Such as when one is very emotional and the other very rational; one with a strong sense of esthetics and the other with a strong sense of utility, and so forth.

It's not stupid at all and I kind of see your point, it's never a bad thing to think outside the box. Also, it may help some narrow down their search of what they are looking for; however, unfortunately It probably wouldn't flourish as well as some of the mainstream dating sites but you never know. There's a lot of people out there that is looking for their "opposites" and not another clone.

Thanks. I just have a lot of thoughts that sometimes go out of the "normal" box as I noticed I have a curious mind but I'm ostracized for my views sometimes so that's why I said what I said. Anyway, it's nice to know that someone understood what I meant. But yes, it probably wouldn't get popular acclaim like the mainstream sites.

Well then the site wouldn't be good for you. You would just stick to whatever you use now. icon_smile.gif
I know a site like what I suggested wouldn't be for everyone.
