Why do people shave their heads?

So I have a date with this guy I have been chatting to on grindr for awhile, its scheduled for tomorrow, but I am getting really nervous about it. He alluded to the fact he was bald, but never sent a pic of him without a hat on. Finally, he made it clear that he shaves his head. When I asked him why he kept dodging the question and getting agitated until he said it was because it looks more attractive. His facebook pictures clearly show that he had a full head of hair not very long ago, and no signs of balding, so I am completely baffled as to why he shaves it. If it is really because of attractiveness, then why does he always wear a hat?

The date tomorrow is a couple hours away on the train, but thankfully I have a massive stack of Network Rail vouchers so it won't cost me anything. (For the yanks this is because the train system in the UK is absolute shit and you get compensation vouchers when your train is delayed or cancelled which happens all the time).

So im getting nervous as fuck now. Why does he shave his head? Is he crazy or something?

And not to be really shallow, but he looks stunning with hair or a hat on, but atrocious without a hat on.

I guess im just looking for advice from the many knowledgable folks of RJ.

    Thanks.

For me, the choice was: start parting my hair one millimeter above my ear and "do a combover" or shave off what was left. The choice was made 14 years ago.

I have a full head of hair and I shave it off in the summer. Its way easier to maintain. When its longer, it needs blow dried, needs goop in it.

This. Just buzzed it off. If you run or cycle, no hair on hot and humid days is the only way to work out

Broseph saidIf he's balding, there's a decent chance he's kind of sensitive about it, especially if it's recent. Maybe you're just poking something he doesn't want to talk about much.

I think a lot of semi-balding guys will shave their head to basically hide or minimize the look of a lack of hair in some spots. They're just making the whole thing uniform so the balding itself is less noticeable. I wouldn't read much more into it than that.

If your date is just to get to know him, I guess you can assess the situation and figure out if he's too unattractive to date for you. I wouldn't be nervous about a simple meeting unless you committed or alluded to something more.

    Good luck icon_smile.gif

    OP, THIS is your answer.

I think shaved heads are hot, just me, but i wouldn't lose sleep over it. I don't think shaving your head qualifies a person as crazy either.

    Maybe he is doing chemo.

Maybe he just likes the look or just wants to try it out.

Don't worry. He still has ears to hold on to.

Its not hard to tell the difference between shaved skin and bald skin. Look at his head when you meet him.

If him losing is hair is too much for you, do him a favour and let him get back to meeting a guy that isn't so shallow

One of the hottest guys at my gym has a shiny bald head, with a nicely maintained beard.

If you don't like bald heads you shouldn't lead the dude on. Tell him you don't and be done with it.

you know... not giving someone a chance because of that is very shallow. You'll understand my words when you are older I suspect...

some guys find a shaved or buzzed head to be more masculine too

I buzz mine for a few different reasons

    a) it's receding faster than I'd like it to
    b) I cut my hair so short to begin with, I couldn't justify paying to have someone do it anymore
    c) you get more head rubs lol
    d) it's soooooo much easier to maintain
    e) I wear a lot of hats regardless

give him a chance, it could always just be a phase he's going thru too

Don't let them bully you, mate. If you don't like bald/shaved heads, just move on. Though I'd ask him why, first. We all have preferences. I like a short buzz but I'm not too keen on bald.

I dated a kid who cried when i mentioned his hairline...

He shaved his head because of it receding... and had been doing so for YEARS.

Don't assume your man has come to terms with things yet... Mght still be pretty sensitive for him.

I'm like madfacts; I buzz my head when the hair starts getting close to 1/2 inch. I have some cheap Wahl clippers I do it with to bring it down to 1/4 inch. I like not having to worry about my hair being combed. And as madfacts said, it's nice for when you run or work out. I also like not having to spend time at the barber shop; the only decent one here has a long wait.

What?! He shaves his head? Yup .. classic psychopathic behavior, with hints of zoophilia.

    Spare yourself the trip.

if he is letting it grow back, and you havent played with "velvet" hair yet, it will be fun.

There are no savings for prebooking for travel within Wales so I don't do it as it ties you to a train and time.
