Here is the current uproar inside and outside the Texas Capitol. They claim they passed an Abortion bill yet while watching they didn't pass until after the deadline. This is getting cray cray

Thank you Senator Davis for awakening Texas to the bible monstrosities that are currently working in Austin and wanting to control every aspect of every Texans life.

I really hope more people read this thread. It's really amazing what went down in Texas this evening. Wendy Davis is an inspiration, and the very close reporting of the topic should reveal to any thinking person just how corrupt and desperate that Texas Republicans have gotten.

ETA: And it sounds like the bill now officially didn't pass.

Wendy Davis did a fantastic thing. It's inspiring to see a politician stick by an issue so closely.

In the UK we would never see that level of devotion in this day and age.

Davis is awesome. I love how she wore a pair of Mizunos (my favorite running shoes), as she knew she was going to be up for quite some time icon_biggrin.gif

I really hope what happened in Texas and what happened with the Supreme Court striking down a portion of the Voting Rights Act will encourage voters to participate more in the elections.

Last night the filibuster was trending and I kept seeing things popping up on Facebook and Twitter so I finally tuned in to the live feed. I had never heard of Wendy Davis before and she has become a new hero. At one point there were 200,000 people watching the live feed. When they cut off her filibuster, Senator Watson did a pretty amazing job with taking his appeal of the decision to end it almost to midnight until the crowd took over and drowned out the roll call. Perfectly played.

Once Texas goes Blue, and this is inevitable, the Republican Party will cease to exist, at least as we know it today.

Texas will never go blue so quit living in a fantasy. The republicans will always rule in Texas regardless how corrupt they get because they will always trumpet the values dearest to most Texans, traditional family values, guns, anti abortion, anti gay marriage, low taxes. Most Hispanics in Texas are much more conservative than Hispanics in other parts of the US. So don't count on them to change the political landscape of the lone star state anytime soon.

When Democrats filibuster it's a wonderful thing. When Republicans filibuster it's called obstructionism. Uh huh.
