When you guys read the news about DOMA and Prop8, how many of you cried?

I was teary for about 3 seconds and then I realized it would look awkward if I started crying in my cubicle.

When I first read the news I did not cry. Later when watching the news on television and seeing gay and lesbian couples interviewed I did get a little teary eyed.

I was in my home office, but too excited to cry. I was searching for more info on the decision, disappointed when, despite initial headlines saying DOMA was struck down, I learned that only Section 3 was found unconstitutional, the part dealing with Federal programs and benefits.

Then Prop 8 was announced, and I was glad that decision was unambiguous - Prop 8 was gone, same-sex marriage in California could resume. But I still didn't cry.

I was nonplussed that it took the USA this long to only halfway catch up to Canada.

I recognized the historic achievement, but things like this don't make me emotional.

It came in waves. I'd be totally cool one moment, and something like Judy Shepard's reaction would come up in my news feed and It'd be all over.

Hard to be too happy when 2/3rds of Americans can't get that right in their respective states.

Great day but there is still a lot of work.

One step forward is better than one backwards. Let's celebrate the progress that we have achieved in the last 5 years. The wheel of change is still gaining much momentum; nationwide equality is around the corner. Today was just a taste of the forthcoming glories!
