I don't know, I don't agree with society saying 16 is too young. The only reason it appears to be young now, is because we are living longer. In centuries past, people were married at 14, 15, or 16.
Add to the fact that there are quite a few males and females who are physically and emotionally mature, even at 15 or 16. I know I was very emotionally mature at 15. I knew who I was, and I knew what I wanted.
I was contacted a couple of years ago by a just turned 16-year-old in Florida, who told me after getting to know me, I was his first crush. He was so hurt that I lived so far away. And I was disappointed, he was a very cute Latino, a high school wrestler, and was very physically mature for his age... We chatted online, texted, etc., for almost 2 years before he went off to college. We both discovered we had a lot in common, even with the age gap.
Even now, at the gym here locally where I live, I see 15, 16, 17, 18 year-olds who are very physically fit, compared to when I was the same age. And I know I've been given quite a few looks of interest....
