He really should have just shut his mouth. I think he looks looks stupider now then he if he just came out and said gay marriage is bad.

The article also speculates Christie is trying to walk a "fine line" between conservatives & liberals. And that he doesn't want to come out overtly against gay marriage.

Except, on the same day, Christie said he would veto a same-sex marriage bill in New Jersey once again, as he did previously. Sounds more like he fell off that line onto the right side.

Being held hostage by a crazy tea party right that controls the Republican primary/caucus process and still trying to appeal to the rest of the country.

It's hard out there for a Republican presidential hopeful.

hes just walking the fine line right now not to upset the ultra conservatives this early. He has said he wants to let the public decide for vote which is fair enough and it keeps his hands clean. Its called positioning

I wouldn't call it fair. Tyranny of the majority then comes into play.

What he is gearing for us a 2016 run - he doesn't want to upset the Republican Party after pissing them off after Sandy.

No such thing as purple. Your either Red or Blue.

Christie was, once, our hero. Then, first, Chuck became disenchanted with him and began calling him "Governor Dead-to-Me". I can't even remember what it was, almost a year ago, but I thought it a bit harsh, perhaps Quixotic. Now (as often happens) Bill must agree. Now he's "Governor Dead-to-US".

when it will be harder for Christie to win the republican nomination than the presidential election yes he has to be purple at this time.

why dont some prominent republicans break off and form All Conservative - No Social Bullshit Party. They would pledge for one term to never mention Guns, Abortion, Gays, Ethnicity, Minorities, Immigration or Sex. Every bill will be about JOBS and FINANCES.

    Everyone would vote for them.

It would be disastrous for the party. And they know it. You have to kill the party first before splitting.

Then you're splitting your own party and voters and leave it open for the Democrats to win for sure. It's happened before. Progressive Party.

Right because, for example, immigration has nothing to do with jobs or finances...and unemployment isn't a social issue at all...

We are structured for a two party system. All the money and media attention goes to the two parties. Changing this will take time and you might as well kiss your election chances goodbye in the meantime if you try and break the mold.
