Have you ever thought about killing someone?

I was reading about Texas' 500th execution and James Holmes (Batman shooter) trial and it got me thinking about the level of anger it takes to kill someone. (Unless your a sociopath which doesn't count in this post). So I'm asking if anyone had ever thought of killing a person you really hate.

And I don't mean when you say something like "omggggg I wanna like kill him/her"

I mean pure unadulterated spite against another human to the point where you want to end their life. Have you ever seriously thought about it? Maybe even planned the whole thing out?

I've not wanted to kill anyone.. but there have been a couple of people that I've wanted to beat within an inch of their lives. And that's dangerous, because more or less, if I do that, I would be killing them. One was an ex.. who was very selfish and really put me thru the grinder. But he's out of my life now.. and for the best; selfish asshole that he is.

People like James Holmes are severely disturbed. Killers like him have a generalized hatred towards humanity. Those are the guys you really have to watch out for; the ones that are so angry, they would spray bullets on innocent civilians. Or hatemongers like the Boston bombers.

Yes I have. But then I realize how irrational and primitive that feeling is. I've learned a form of self-hypnosis - Whenever I feel a bad emotion, I put the emotion in a jar in my mind and place it on a shelf. If I still feel the emotion I imagine it bursting out of the jar and I have to find a stronger one. Eventually I no longer feel the emotion and it is contained. I then place the jar on a shelf where I will deal with it later.

    I would never kill anyone.

I'd much rather provide false therapy until they're clinically insane and commit them to a long-term mental health facility.

I think it's crossed many people's mind at some point in life. Myself as well. Since I was 18 I can honestly say I never had hatred for someone to the point where I want to kill them. Wasted energy

Most of the time it's just people who can't control their emotions and they finally snap. Like the bouncer who killed his ex coworkers because they made fun of him after an incident at the shooting range

but I do agree the scarier ones are those who can justify killing and able to carry it out if they want to

    Never.
If I ever got really mad, my greatest revenge would be public humiliation.
Regarding murderers, it frightens me to think how many genuinely evil/psychopathic people are around us.

We all make comments about somebody in anger, but I've never seriously ever considered something like that, not even in passing. I think if you do, it should be a real red flag about your mental condition.. and assistance sought.

That isn't a normal thing we do.

When I was young and in less control of my practical life and emotions, I would have loved something fairly horrible to have happened to my father.

Actually, yes I have - thought about killing someone, but I stopped myself - realizing the punishment I'd receive wouldn't be worth it. My life would have been over - sitting in San Quentin Prison.

The person I thought of killing deserved it, IMO. He'd robbed our house when I was a teenager and shot me through my chest. The bullet passed by my heart and I survived, with a lot of medical care and a few weeks in the hospital. The thief was caught, but sentenced only to four years in jail (since I didn't die, his "crime" wasn't so severe). I'd never known the guy and never saw him again, even though we'd attended the same high school.

Several years after he shot me, I saw this thief walking across a busy street. I could have slightly turned my steering wheel and hit him, killing him or at least turning him into a crippled vegetable - so his family would have had to take care of him for the rest of his life. I thought about it for a few seconds and couldn't do it. Even if I'd have somehow gotten away with it, I'd have it on my conscience every single day for the rest of my life.

Life has a way of taking care of these things (Karma). Later I heard this drug addicted loser ended up dying anyway, so his death isn't on my hands.

(Sorry this is so long, but it was a horrible time for me - suffering pain, fear of the dark and fear that the idiot would get out and hunt me down again).

In some ways I think that being killed is not the worst thing that can happen to you. When you're dead it's done and over with; no more suffering. What about someone who was raped and mutilated? Children who were sexually abused? They have to live with that for the rest of their lives.

It's a pretty selfish way of looking at it. You getting killed is devastating for your family and the people close to you, it is a heavy emotional and financial burden to a great many people. In a more transcendent way it also cuts shorts the possibilities of the good you could have been, the productivity you could have offered, and the friendship, love, etc you could have given.

    Not really, no.

I have, however, wished my car had rocket launchers on it to get some people off the road that have no business driving.
