So this weekend is NYC pride and I've never been and thought about going for the first time this year. I asked one of my friends what it is like and he mentioned that there is a lot of ass slapping that goes on and I am someone that doesn't tolerate that because I refuse to be treated like a piece of meat and expect respect where respect is given.

My issue is well obviously the ass slapping but isnt it also sort of a conflict of interest because gays are fighting for equality and acceptance in society but cannot manage to follow the normal social standards of society? What are your opinions on the issue? Ass slapping and not managing to function to societal standards

P.S. I'm aware it is not everyone that does this and also any bashing of me will be brushed off because I live a life of no fucks given lol so ...

You really never have been to gay pride ... have you icon_biggrin.gif ... half the people are straight ... so there'll be no random ass slapping going on ... unless of course you want someone to slap your ass.icon_twisted.gif

This is NOT true!! Gays are much more aggressive and forward at NYC Pride, especially when the alcohol starts flowing! If you are going to be offended or angered by being groped, touched, or cruised, then don't waste your time.

I lived in NYC for 11 years so I'm speaking from personal experience. Some people will maintain manners, but others will feel like b/c it's PRIDE, they are entitled to a free grab.

    Better be a volunteer.
Not much to do, and you get the best view of everything.

If you are not shy, you can hug anyone you think is hot.
    No one would reject you.

If it's anything like the Chicago Pride, then expect to have your ass slapped, random strangers flashing you (sadly not good looking guys - mostly drunk, straight sorority girls or dirty old men),and random strangers trying to make out with you.

I'm a bit of a prude myself; but it's all in good fun, and the energy is infectious.

NYC gays alone are disrespectful little whore bags lol specifically in Manhattan. The things they say they would never say in front of their mother NEVER in a million years believe me lol and they're a lot more nastier because they have guys every 5 foot radius lol

This isnt something I want to shoot down without trying but if anything ill set some mother fuckers straight

People underestimate me because im a skinny white boy from Staten Island but ill rip them a new asshole and not in the way they'll enjoy it lol

I'd say it's 60% party, 30% gay rights, 10% ass slapping. I went last year and I didn't have as much fun as my friends hyped it up to be. I guess if you are going, don't set your expectations high. At least there will be hot eye candy icon_smile.gif

Eye candy isnt so much fun when its tainted with whorishness lmaoo

I think I'm just gonna get so drunk at this party on Saturday night so my excuse the next day is that I'm hung over and not because I dont have anyone to go with and sexually take advantage of me lol

Not going to be at NYC Pride, but already had Pride in my area.

It's basically just a weekend festivities with a gay theme. Perhaps at one point, years ago, it was to show the general population just how many gays there really are, and to proud of it. Now that people are becoming more aware of how prevalent the GLBT population is, and slowly becoming more and more accepted, the need to stand out because becomes less purposeful. But like any festivity event (St. Patrick's Day, Cinco De Mayo, Mardi Gras), people still use it as an excuse to party and have fun.

Although, the parades seems to become more political pandering now.

Anyways, let people have their fun, it doesn't matter if they're straight or gay. In fact, a lot of straight people also attend the Pride festivals.

As for the ass-slapping part, that depends on your looks and how you dress. Think about the attention a hot girl gets at Mardi Gras. If a guy can slap a random girl's ass at Mardi Gras, why can't a guy slap a random guy's ass at Pride? Besides, girls can slap random asses too. Personally, I got my ass groped by nearly as many girls as there were guys.

I've been a few years. It's fun if you're with people. Just drink a few (or a lot) and just enjoy the fact that the whole city loves it and participates.

If you are just going there to be a hater, stay home. There's more than enough of those around. You could try going with the attitude of having a good time and maybe meeting some new people!

If you don't want to get your ass more than slapped, enjoy partying with thousands of hot guys, and walk the streets wearing whatever the f*ck you want then by all means don't go to pride.

Yeah I second this. You shouldn't go to pride if you're looking for a bad time or a fight, though i'll admit I wouldn't take too kindly to someone randomly smacking me on the ass.

Anywhos I live in NYC but I won't attend pride. I seen it up close a few years ago and it just didn't appeal to me. but that's no reason to bad mouth it. Obviously it's enjoyable to many people just like comic con,Japan day and martial arts exhibits are enjoyable to me.

I hope everyone who attends pride have a good time icon_biggrin.gif

I don't understand. Why be so confrontational about going to Pride? You've never been.. and you're expecting to have a terrible time.. with 'disrespectful men slapping your ass'?

    Just don't go. Problem solved.

Dude, your mindset is already hostel and far too aggressive. It's about pride and clearly frm reading your post you're filled w/ it. I'm sure skinny you will attract unwanted advances but I cant imagne it being that bad. You do have an option of not going.

My goodness the last couple posts, whatever sticks you guys have deep up your ass running through your insides you need to take out because I'm fucking joking. Yes I'm really gonna get myself in trouble with law enforcement because someone slapped my ass.

    1) I'm not one to wear "whatever the fuck I want" I'll wear normal clothes thank you very much
    2) It is apparent to me that Pride isnt so much celebrating our pride and fighting for equality as much as it is sex and drugs and promiscuity
    3) Clearly the more defensive ones on the post fall under the people that do the crotch grabbing and such but ill leave it at that lol

IVE ALREADY DECIDED I AM NOT GOING SO POST CLOSED

just based off the posts you've made in this thread, it would be in your best interest if you DID go.

you most definitely am NOT comfortable with yourself and being around other gay men. anything that is going to make you more comfortable with yourself is for your own benefit. holing yourself up in your house and avoiding any interactions with other gay men is only going to make you worse. fuck what your friends and everybody else is saying. get your ass out there and find out for yourself. just because THEY may have experienced it doesn't mean you will. dude, i've heard many people talk shit about gay bars being grabfests and etc. i've been to several and in all my experiences, i haven't had folks trying to get their feels on with me. in fact, folks for the most part were friendly and minded their business.

so you don't need to jump to conclusions thinking that you're going to become someone's bitch as soon as you step into the parade. you're NOT the only guy that's there. relax, take a breather, smoke some weed and get your ass over there tomorrow. [/quote]

Appreciate the input unlike the other closed minded assholes lol any who. Believe me I am very comfortable myself. I've been to many gay clubs, bars, dates. I've shown public affection with another man in the streets of New York. I am comfortable with myself. I just don't want to subject myself to sexual harassment like I'm some piece of meat because these boys think its funny. Like I used to do that in high school and these are grown ass men doing it lol

I personally feel Pride has lost all its true meaning of the events that happened at Stonewall years ago and now its just turned into a grabfest celebrating promiscuity and dancing in your underwear and whoring yourself around

A little pearl of wisdom for everyone: if its something you're too ashamed to tell your mother the day after, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

So thats my view on it. Whether I'm going or not idk. Probably not as I don't have anyone to really go with so yea thats that
