In a brief statement Friday afternoon, Ballantine [Books] announced it was canceling its multibook deal with Deen, including publication of her upcoming cookbook, which was scheduled for release in October 2013. The news comes as a surprise, as the book was pushed to No. 1 on Amazon after a surge of pre-orders from fans.

Walgreens said it was phasing out Deen's products and J.C. Penney, which gave no formal statement, confirmed to NBC News Friday that it would no longer carry Deen-branded merchandise. Sears Holdings announced Friday morning that it would "phase out all products tied to the [Paula Deen] brand. Our members' needs will be given first priority as we work to continue to provide quality cookware in our stores and online."

Looks like the South's most infamous racial bigot continues to be rejected by corporate America. Bye-bye, Paula. icon_biggrin.gif

She isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. I am sure she has plenty of sticks of butter in the freezer. She can live off that the rest of her daysicon_idea.gif

All the easy moral capital made on her back is quite astounding honestly.

Sears Holdings has all its factories concentrated in the poorest areas of the world, with nonexistent working conditions and a pitiful salary, and it plays the offended maiden when a elder Texan lady claims she'd like to put on a party with Afro-americans as waiters like in the old times? icon_rolleyes.gif

    Give me a break.

You can't seriously think Paula Deen is more of a racial bigot than Jesse Helms was. Or... there has to be so many others. So many... no?

@chefBH: Alec Baldwin seems a bit too snarky for my tastes. He was already on my "meh" list so I certainly have no passes for him :p

Bro sad thing is Alec kept his endorsements like capital one- throw that card out or cut it up if you have one!!

He also called his daughter a little bitch in a drunken call. He's like Teflon- nothing sticks.
Bill Clinton was like that as well.

At least a few outlets (fringe media unfortunately) are writing about how Alec Baldwin gets a pass on his homophobic tweets. Sadly, most of the RJ membership here "doesn't see" Baldwin's tweets as homophobic!

GLAAD: Alec Baldwin Gets a Pass 'Cause We're Shameless Starf**kers

Alec Baldwin just got a "Get Out of Homophobia Jail Free" card from the people at GLAAD ... because they don't have the balls to go after a self-proclaimed Hollywood liberal.

After Baldwin essentially called for the gay-bashing of a Daily Mail reporter ... the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation -- the same org. that's CRUSHED people for making far less harmful and threatening statements -- asked critics to back off Baldwin.

I think she's being crucified by people who I'm sure have used words worse than she has. The only thing is that she admitted it under oath. I'm sure if all the same people who've dropped her were to go under oath, their skeletons would be worse than hers.

When she was being interviewed by Matt Lauer - it just augmented unadulterated Americanized media hype retardation, lock; stock, and barrel!!!

Seriously though, .. you can't take any of it serious at all ..

Matt Lauer hasn't had the world turn on him over night, and no one who hasn't experienced that can imagine what it feels like. I don't care what your take on the situation is. A good Journalist would be able to argue both sides of the story. So until the world turns their back on YOU, you can sit back and shut up and let her speak. You're only doing what EVERYONE else has done, which is talk over her when she's trying to defend herself. It's like kicking a dead dog.

Moreover; ask Matt Lauer if he ever said the 'N'- word, I bet he would fail that lie detector test. This entire witch hunt and selective moral outrage is an utter laughable joke. No one cares.

You know what. She has been all over the media apologizing. I am fairly certain that you have said some things - even on this very site that you have regretted. Does that mean that your entire life should be ruined?

I am not defending what she said, but what more do you want from her? She apologized. Her shows have been canceled. Yet you are still intent on name calling? You wonder why people get mad at you on this site? Enough is enough Art. You are no better than she is.

And... I don't see Alec Baldwin being interview by Matt Lauer. It's not like Baldwin isn't "available" to be interviewed - he lives a few blocks away from "30 Rock."

I don't get the controversy. An elderly white woman from the south uses the n-word and the world goes into instant hate mode? Give it a break, it's a word, used all the time by many other people. You want to outlaw words? Get a grip you hypocrites.

Actually there are indeed guys here who have tried to ruin my entire life, by posting lies about me, and publishing private info that's prohibited by RJ TOS/TOU.

But the difference is that I'm a nobody, not a public figure. With public notoriety comes public scrutiny. The cost of doing business if you wanna be a public figure, and expect to profit from that fame.

But hey, don't argue with me, I'm just reporting this stuff. Argue with the Food Network, and Sears, and J.C. Penney, and Ballantine Books, and Walmart, etc, etc. I'm not the decision maker here, they are. They're driven by the bottom line, and they wouldn't dump Deen if they thought she was blameless.

If you feel so strongly about defending Deen, why don't you boycott all the companies that have dropped her? And write protests to them, not to me?

You are not just reporting. You are name-calling. You have lowered yourself down to her level.

Maybe I should report you to the admins?

This is a forum that is open for discussion, so I am within my rights to make a post. Are you threatening me for making a post in an open forum?

I am not condoning what she did or protesting the actions of the sponsors that dropped her.

I am protesting your endless name-calling of people in these threads and then threatening anyone that disagrees with you.

I admittedly cant cook so I dont know much about this lady but I kinda feel bad for her 'downfall' because of a fucking word thrown at someone that deserved it. Sure, she has millions to fall back on but her reputation is ruined. And for what? A 'slur' she used decades ago against some piece of shit that stuck a fucking gun in her face? Please.....most of us use the word daily and for lesser 'offenses'.

Every interview now of a celeb should have the question

"Have you used a racial slur ever?"

See how many careers are shattered

    Stupid sensitive country
