Shot this today. They were all over the place. The mosquitos don't stand a chance.

Excellent shot. And I like his color. They're starting to come around here too. I find that when I water they seem to try and land or just check out the stream pouring out of the hose. One time I was with a neighbor and I was pointing at something when one landed right on my finger. In that moment I was the dragonfly whisperer.

Dragonflies are so cool. I used to love seeing them fly around when I was a kid but then if they got too close, I'd get freaked out lol

It's amazing the machinery that makes up a dragonfly. Where the wings attach looks like some sort of futuristic aircraft.

There was one on my door awhile back. I wondered what the hell it was from a distance! Dragonflies are not a good omen in Western mythology (boo!) but ARE good in Native American (yay!).

Some of the coolest animals. Even more so because they eat mosquitoes. Long live the dragonfly. Great photos.

    They are my heros!icon_lol.gif

I live amoung hoards of mosquitoes in Northern Canada but a couple years ago there was an intolerable infestation. Came home from work one night and found a swarm of dragon flies in the yard it was like the army moved in to save me. Cleaned up my problem in a jiffy.

Here's one that didn't come out so well so I had to sharpen a few times.

Not a blue darner, but still cool. Blue darners are among my favorite insects - sleek, elegant, and fiercely predatory as far as insects go icon_smile.gif I still have one in my old insect collection, as blue as the day I caught it.

I've never seen one. That's beautiful. He'd make a great Tiffany.

They're just curious about you. They won't bite unless you pick them up and handle them wrong.
