Who's gonna check this film out tomorrow night/this weekend? I saw it & loved it. It seriously made my skin crawl. Felt like it came out of the 70's. The entire theater screamed, was awesome.

    Synopsis:

Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren work to help a family terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. Forced to confront a powerful entity, the Warrens find themselves caught in the most terrifying case of their lives.

Naw no red band cuz this film got rated R strictly for the intense scares...no blood/gore/sex/etc

However yes there are 3 different trailers for marketing...

I really want to see it. I've seen several interviews over the years with the real life psychic investigator couple that it's based on, so I'm curious to see them portrayed. I hope it's as creepy as they make it out to be. The last film that creeped me out successfully was 'Mama'.

I actually didn't enjoy Case39 too much back when that came out unfortunately ...

Was it better than 'Insidious'? I thought that one started out with enormous promise, but got ridiculous by the end.

To be honest, Mama kinda bored me. Conjuring didn't. One advantage this film had over Mama is that there isn't any cgi in it, all good practical make-up effects. & i too grew up hearing about the Warrens.

Unlike Insidious (same director), this sticks its serious tone till the very end. Is it breaking "new" ground? Not at all, but every trick is skillfully & masterfully done. Entire theater (packed btw) was screaming.

If you like oldschool creep/spookfests w/ good suspenseful build up (or if the original 1979 Amityville Horror scared the shit outta you in your youth!) - see this movie!!

Oh good...the closets full'o'ghosts annoyed the hell out of me in 'Insidious'...if it sticks the the Excorcist style scares and chills, I'm happy. Truthfully, the eeriest thing in 'Mama' was the child drawings on the wall in the opening credits. 'Amityville' creeped me out in my youth, if only for the eyes looking in the window which imprinted on me ever since.

Theres one scene in this involving a big "wardrobe" chest , but this didn't feel like Insidious though it has a similar style in delivery.

Lili Taylor 'possessed' = effin' scary! The exorcism scene is intense & visually creative.

My rule of thumb for whether or not to see a horror movie. If the commercial doesn't scare you (or Lili Taylor is in it) don't bother.

Nice. I'm a big fan of Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson and Lili Taylor. I'm sure I'll enjoy it. Usually a good tell of success if I have nightmares afterwards.

Is Lili Taylor related to Jackie Earle Haley (Breaking Away) ?

venue35 saidI can't wait to see this true story as well. The couple were real life clairvoyants and have published many books based on their cases. The film is getting great reviews. Looks authentically 70's too.

Yea I grew up since the 80's knowing about them. My older brother had couple their books, plus I was a huge fan of the Amityville Horror films. They would appear on ep's of Unsolved Mysteries, Sightings, Paranormal State, etc....

So it was great to see them portrayed on the big screen. Vera Farmiga knocked it outta' the ballpark!!
