Stepper Machine vs Row Machine

Recently, my mum gave me a stepper machine that she no longer wanted to use. I also have a rower machine at home (just added to my collection of gym equipment I have bought for home when I feel bored and unable to make it to the gym). What are the pros and cons of both machines? Should I use them simultaneously or alternate each day in using one or the other?

I have a rower and a cross trainer, both of which I use for cardio. Both are pretty low impact, but rowing requires more technique. I generally alternate between the two each day, but if my arms or shoulders are a bit too sore from weight training, I will stick to the cross trainer for a few days. I do a 60 min session on the cross trainer or 35 min on the rower. They are both excellent for cardio, if used properly.

My trainer suggested using a rower over some of the other low impact cardio equipment. Using the rower actually works your core, legs, shoulders and arms so you are getting a pretty rigorous workout. I alternate at the gym when I do my cardio workouts.
