Proud (and lucky) to be Canadian even though I've lived in the US for the past 16 years.

I was listening to NPR yesterday and managed to catch a snippet of the CBC Radio program Day 6. It was an interview with TV writer Rob Cohen, a Canadian who lives in LA. He talked about Being Canadian, a documentary project he's working on:

"I have never seen Canadians in my whole life being a more confident, proud group (because we're awesome anyways), but right now in the world it seems that Canada is one of the coolest, if not the coolest, places to be ... Being Canadian is knowing you are super-cool and great but being quiet about it. And when people ask, you decide how much you're going to reveal, because that's our superpower. "

    Happy Canada Day!

Somewhat coincidentally (not actually being Canadian myself) I promised myself a little while ago I'd celebrate by "coming out"; this summer hasn't gone so well and I have less of a personal life than ever, so I'm settling for making an RJ account for now.

I'm still holding out hope that some year soon I'll be celebrating *in* Canada, but first things first...

We can be proud of how we protect gay rights in Canada.
On ne peut vraiment pas en dire autant, malheureusement, pour bien des pays.
