I've tried watching Resident Evil, Shaun of the Dead, The Walking Dead etc. and I just can't get into them like I can with vampire or other horror movies. They have no super powers, no spaceship, They can't fly, or hear thoughts. There's no laser, no sex appeal and no cure. There just movies about shooting people.

Basically, it's the ultimate nightmare--to be turned into a mindless piece of walking, rotting flesh that feels no pain and has no purpose but to infect others.

It also makes for super-gory films which gives their protagonists full permission to shoot people's brains off.

I've never understood their popularity either. It's the same thing again and again and again.

The zombie genre used to be cool. But it has gotten so played out. I mean, there are zombie 5K runs now, zombie porn, zombie novelty items, zombie toilet paper, and other random shit. People/companies are totally riding the fad hard. It's a matter of time until the next fad comes around.
