"Do y'all agree with me here, about the dress? Unflattering and weird, with a furnace of hot coals broiling in her belly, like the "before" shot in an ad for heartburn medicine."

I thought the same thing last night..... icon_lol.gif

I thought it was cute, not typical at all, which I think is just her style. Atleast she isn't as mainstream as some when it comes to clothes. Atleast when you see her you know she'll be wearing something quite original and the woman certainly looks comfortable in her clothes. Besides, the old party is about to get burned away and the cementation of her husband as president will begin, maybe she thought a hot dress was suited for the occasion.

i actually like it - not because of the dress itself, but because it didn't look anything like the one dress every first lady has been wearing since 1938.

When I saw that dress I asked my Partner if she was pregnant! LOL! I have to give her snaps for wearing clothes that the average citizen can afford - but that dress was just unflattering.... icon_eek.gif

She worked it, but maybe not the most fab dress, still, maybe she planned it. The focus was on her old man not her. It just speaks to the character and the tact of our new first lady.

I thought it was just this side of hideous. It looked like a gigantic splatter pattern... it looked like both ends sort of tapered off into small dots. Given it was a red pattern, I found it very disturbing, quite frankly. It totally made me think of Jackie Kennedy -- but not in the usual positive fashion way.

I usually like what Michelle wears, but that was a giant misstep.

That's EXACTLY what I said to my partner. The dress looked like Spiderman underoos. Michelle's usually got fantastic style, the dress was an off moment ...

She wore Narciso Rodriguez, from his spring '09 collection:

    EDIT:
The dress hasn't even hit stores yet- special arrangements had to be made for her to get it.

I thought she looked kinda cool, but then, I have little to no fashion sense.

Poor Michelle...she needs a gay stylist. The dress was not flattering at all, and many (myself included) thought she looked pregnant. Yes, it was out of the norm of her J. Crew style she wore on The Tonight Show (I think), however, she could have dressed MUCH better. IMHO.

PS. I was wondering how long it would take before this thread appeared on the forum.

Honestly, that was the first thing I noticed...just because something is designer doesn't mean it will work for you (even if you're FIRST LADY MICHELLE OBAMA! Eat that bitches!).

I hope she channels her inner Jackie Onassis more (i.e., hire a gay man to be her personal stylist). (I actually haven't been crazy about any of her looks during the campaign and think, yes I'll say it, she could take some tips from Cindy McCain...or get Cindy's gay stylist.)

Yeah, this was after she gave the impression that she buys all her clothing from J. Crew.... she didn't want to get pinned with the Palin thing... here we go!

She usually looks great and sophisticated. But, I do agree, it was kind of Halloweenish. Hey, she's looking out for our economy shopping in the 70% off rack at Target!

Ditto. I think the only problem was that the dress didn't compliment her big beautiful black girl thighs. lol.

It wasn't that bad. We all make fashion mistakes sometimes.

She looked like a black widow spider. When I saw her, I was like, "Honey who dressed you? Go get something from Palin's new wardrobe." icon_lol.gif
