imthatguy saidSo....... Maybe about 8 months ago I started going out... At firstiIwas just sa shadow in the clubs....... But gradually I started meeting people and just being a casual face.... Long story short... I was interested in being a gogo boy.... Well 3 weeks ago I started dancing here in nc..... In the past month I have met a lot of club owners and dj's, and apparently there are a few are not looking at me as a friend... Sure I get in to a few clubs free now if i choose to go, but people are recognizing me as this guy's boo or little fling (which I am not) .... Which is not good for me because I live totally different in the daylight away from the scene.
Something has been on my mind since the last time I danced... They got me a drink and that one long island had me wasted like.... I only had one but it was soo strong, luckily I made it home that night and slept for a good 9 hours and work up with a sore throat and stomach...

On top of all that I have noticed a trend of club owners... Vip customers, and dj's..... They all have some type of history.... And here I go getting in the mix.
crazy thing is I see a change... I didn't really get attention or Vip privileges or attention until I started dancing and cut my hair.... Took out one of my piercings (which I still have 3)... Got a mustang.... And started wearing a certain style... But it's still not enough to even get a guy from a different race to seriously be interested in talking ....... I hate being in the south

How did any of you guys deal with mixing into the scene or not getting in too deep.
I have been forcing myself not to go out lately because of all this... LOW PROFILE LOL)... Just been hanging with straight guys lately...

"Well 3 weeks ago I started dancing here in nc....."

The moment you said that all I could wonder is why you would do something like that.

The majority of gay men in NC are transparent and two dimensional. They do not like men who don't conform to their own ideas of what a gay man should be and they refuse to open their eyes to the truth of differences among others. Most of them only like white men, even most black guys here only like white men. And the gay men who do like black men expect you to conform to their exact mold or they reject you, whether it be preppy yuppy or a felonious thug. They will not take the time to get to know you.

I had a moderately successful black friend who drove the nice truck country bumpkins here love and also talked extremely proper, another thing they hold as a judgment of a person's character and integrity. He couldn't connect with an attractive guy in the RTP gay community until he cut off his dreads. And even then he only got dates from older white men hoping he was a power top. The men quickly left his life the moment they realized he was a power bottom. They didn't care about his true character or even the fact he was just trying to be friendly.

Also, don't be fooled by the people here(NC) who say they are open to everyone and love all types of personalities and races. Examine their lives and you will find all the people in it are homogeneous. They only say things like that because they know their behavior is wrong and they do not wish to be seen as a bigot.

How do I deal? I do not care for the gay community of this area. I find men on the fringes of this shallow niche cesspool who are not judgmental, and know enough about the world to understand that people who are different are also worth knowing. It requires finding the more obscure gay scenes in the area, but it is worth it.

Yeah, if it wasn't for family I would have moved from NC a long time ago.

See, this is why the first replier, should always quote the original post. This particularly handy if the OP decides to back peddle on controversial topics. icon_lol.gif
