For those of you whom love a could-be-fun "killer doll" horror film, a new entry in the CHILD'S PLAY franchise has been made.

Creator Don Mancini (Child's Play 1-3, Bride Of Chucky, Seed of Chucky) has returned to bring the series back to it's creepy, violent & scary roots as of the 1988 original.

This one is ignoring the last two campy entries (sucks if you're a BRIDE fan, GREAT if you hated SEED!).

Starring TRUE BLOODS' Fiona Dourif, When a mysterious package arrives at the house of Nica (Fiona Dourif, “True Blood”), she doesn’t give it much thought. However, after her mother’s mysterious death, Nica begins to suspect that the talking, red-haired doll her visiting niece has been playing with may be the key to the ensuing bloodshed and chaos. The return of America’s favorite toy, voiced again by Brad Dourif, is unrated and full of more blood-splattered thrills and chills.

Coming out on bluray/dvd/VOD on October 3rd.

I am SO ready for this movie. I've always love the Childs Play movies + Bride of Chucky. I really disliked Seed of Chucky, it was. . . Eh, even though I loved Jennifer Tilly.

But, this one looks like the good 'ol Chucky. I'll definitely be seeing this!

I'm still trying to get my head right for the Carrie remake .... the previews looked good but i'm a hard fan of the original, and NO ONE can play Margaret White the way Piper Laurie did

Another example of the decline of american power, the endless remakes, prequels, sequels, reimaginings, that have flooded the top grossing movies of the last 15 years that are unoriginal and just cheap hollywood milking products of once great franchises.

Well, supposedly the new CARRIE is following the Stephen King novel whereas the '76 DePalma film didn 't quite as much. However I think the choice of director & cast is GREAT.

Kinda tired of the "she's too pretty to be Carrie". That was Spacek's version, however in the book she's moreso ridiculed for the stigma she's had as a "weird" child in the neighborhood schoolyard. Gladly this looks to follow that.

The PROM massacre scene looks intense, can't wait.

They're not trying to " outdo " the original, they can't. However they are doing a modern re-telling in light of all the school bullying/suicides of recent.

I don't consider the "sequel" to be TOO much a decline....all the remakes/reboots of old properties - DEFINENTLY!! Haha

I'm glad they've gone back a more serious tone with the franchise. Don't get me wrong I thought Bride Of Chucky was great, really good comedy horror but it needed to get back to it's roots.

Why is this straight to dvd/VOD though ? I'm always suspicious of films that don't get theatrical releases.

Couple o' ideas. Its been too long since the last sequel to release to a mass market unsure itll make its budget back - & nowadays the platform for quality horror isnt coming out in theaters - but the independents now high in demand on VOD platforms & such.

Lets be honest, SOME of the modern big-studio horror that hits every theater usually is a watered down shit-fest (ie: the possession, the apparition, the purge, etc).

What IS good about it though is that it can make the film as hard a "R" rating as it wants w/o studio or the MPAA interfering & censoring it.

But yes you are right, sometimes DTV can be a worrysome sign.

It has its advantages & disadvantages.

Now, companies that slap out crappy horror product every month SOLEY for DTV distribution (ie lionsgate titles such as: "vampireZ vs ZombieZ", any title w/ a real-life serial killers last name in it, etc) i avoid like the plague.

But alot of the greater horror output, too, is the independents. Sadly these get lumped into DTV too cuz thats its only big means of distribution. THESE are not to confused w/ the examples above. Hahaha

I have to agree with you on the Margaret White character. Piper did a tremendous job with that role!

Naw they never did a reboot/remake for Hellraiser. Dimension films instead has just released a long succession of shitty direct to video sequels that were originally completely original scripts to other movies w/ "pinhead" re-worked in. Hah! They are horrid! The first 4 Hellraiser films are the only ones i can handle.

But its been in development off & on!

Oh, ok. I just wasn't entirely sure. I 100% agree with you about the first four movies in the Hellraiser franchise. My personal favorite was Hellraiser: Hellbound. Those "direct-to-video" releases were just total abominable pieces of dried-up shit! I did, however, enjoy the twist in the 6th or 7th movie where Kirsty, once again, made a deal with the Cennobites to exchange her soul for (I believe) five souls, including her sleazy husband's.

I like to see you all talking about this, Don Mancini is a friend of mine. He has had some fun and some hard times with the the movie company wanting to edit things that he doesn't agree with.

Him and his partner are really nice and easy going guys.

Don and I are huge fans of The Devil Wears Prada movie, when we read the Revenge wears Prada book,...Uter catastrophe! We should have done the sequel.
