I have never been to one. I don't usually like to eat at buffets. But I do know people that do and they seem to really like this place. Ewwww.

Someone found a fingertip in their deep fried shrimp?

Disgusting, but similar things probably happen in restaurants a lot more than we know.

Here is some more about this Golden Corral case.

My partner always hated the place, said it ranked right up with with "Ryan's steakhouse"... YUCK!

Thanks for the reminder as to why I'll never go there....

It's a franchise/chain. There are well-run units and there are others. Nobody who has spent any significant time in the food business would be even slightly surprised by such antics.

On the other hand, there is a well-worth-watching interview with Jack Spong in the videos listed below. Smart guy. does not always color within the lines.

I like buffets, but my one time at one of these, in Williamsburg VA, I was utterly and completely repulsed. The patrons were mannerless, the food was disgusting, and the restaurant was filthy. I'm not surprised.

I had to go to a G.C. in 2007 with some people I worked with. It was their choice and I went along with it, since the place was new, and looked clean and decent. Well - I never forgot the experience. The food was run-of-the-mill t.v. dinner style food. The meatloaf and a few things were just okay. The cleanliness was okay, from what I could see. But what repulsed me was a number of the patrons. Sad to see humanity in this way. The dirty, the stupid, the morbidly obese, the ill-mannered, the loud, poor dental hygiene, the smells of some people. I saw someone blow his nose in his hands and wipe it all onto his shirt. I saw someone spray food particles while he talked and snorted. We were cleaned up and in regular business clothing, and we noticed we were stared at by a number of the people around us. Some of them got into our faces and commented on what foods we had chosen. The experience was unlike anything I'd ever seen. I've never forgotten what I saw that day - but I wish I could!

Duh. I used to work on the meat grill for hours on end at McDonald's and when the AC was out, I managed to actually sweat into a customer's angus beef. Also a coworker at the time still worked while she had the flu. To put things into perspective, Mankato, MN was probably the hardest hit by the pandemic last winter.

+1. I'll leave the circle jerk with this- even after working at McDick's and comparing my experience with my friends who also work there, there really are some exceptional managers that do an excellent job with keeping the food safe and dining room in tip top shape and there are others who are complete shitheads and make stupid choices. I have experienced both.

There are two of these franchises that I have been to recently. They are in two cities three hours apart. One is usually decent enough and clean. The other is usually a challenge to find something worth eating. It was the latter my granddaughter chose for her birthday dinner. Thankfully they were having a good day and we made it through unscathed. In my opinion the food they serve is pre-fabricated chemically dipped junk for the most part. It's certainly not a place I would frequent.

That video was filmed at the Golden Corral less than 1.5 miles from my house. I've eaten there, but I won't be rushing back!
