Why do gay vacations feel like work?

Happens anytime I go on vacation with my gay crew. It always turns into a detailed schedule of what to do, where we should go, how we should dress, and even a share list for cloths we might swap!

OMG it feels like I am not even on vacation!

I'm going to Fire Island for the first time for a few days and have already been given a list of outfits I should plan and the general schedule. Seriously low tea, middle tea, high tea, beach, club, after club, etc... fit all into one day! Never mind any time for the gym if there is one locally!

I'm supposed to now take that list and enter my own clothing selections then submit it back via email. The list will keep ending up edited so we have a complete clothing list for sharing and outfit planning. My NYC buddy says this is perfectly normal and I have to keep up with the NY gays!

No offense New Yorkers but you live seriously hectic lives!!!! icon_eek.gif

    Your friends sound awful.

I would not want to travel with anyone like that.

Also, what's low tea, middle tea, high tea?

    Ice-T would like to know.

Low tea is afternoon tea. There is no middle tea.

But there IS torn T! icon_biggrin.gif

    The solution is simple.

You tell them you're on your own schedule, and you'll meet up with them at various points during the trip but not for the whole time.

And just bring the clothes YOU like. There's no need to get approval so that your friends can swap clothes with you (I've never heard of people doing this, maybe because I'm from Alberta).

I'm sorry, but your friends are outrageously controlling. icon_eek.gif

Tell them thank you for the information about available activities, that you'll bring appropriate clothing and look forward to seeing them there. Then ignore further attempts at micromanaging your life.

    Or get better friends.

Someone is a bit OCD...needing to tell you to wear a swim suit to go to the beach...or sunglasses? Or underwear to an underwear party?

Will you be receiving alternate instructions if the weather changes? I mean, what if you wear sunglasses to the beach and it's raining?!?!? That would be sooo...clueless cher pleadingicon_redface.gif

Sounds more like a dress rehearsal than a vacation.

From what I understand tea refers to gathering times as the day progresses. I guess it is where all the cool kids go to hang out icon_rolleyes.gif

Ignore their lists and mandates. Do your own thang.

I just thought your friends were all English. But even the English only have tea time once per day usually, and it's literally tea. My coworker from there does that.

Gay vacations don't feel like work. Your friend feels like work. Tell him to chill. Or better yet, organize food and liquor for the group. Just put him to work.

Seems to me that you only need to bring one tank (I assume they mean a vest not the military vehicle) a pair of shorts, a swimming costume, a pair of jeans and one set of underwear. Don't see what the problem is?

A loose fitting tank top is fantastic for the weather we have right now. Pretty much Florida weather with high humidity and frequent thundershowers.

So, are you wearing the same thing everyday or changing outfits like six times a day?

A polo or a button down wont kill you.

I say you wear what ever the fuck you want just to piss off your OCD friends.

Being the smart ass I am, I would probably respond with something like:
    Top Bottom
    Thursday Beach Me You
    Low Tea Me You
    Middle Tea Me You
    High Tea Me You
    Club? Me? You?
    Friday Beach Me You
    Low Tea Me You
    Middle Tea Me You
    High Tea Me You
    Underwear Party Definitely Me You

    etc..

Ladies and gentlemen, meet any and all single gay men who are above an 8 on the 10-point scale.
