A woman from Florida named Marissa Alexander has been given 20 years for firing warning shots at her abusive husband. Alexander however has stated that the state's "Stand Your Ground" law should apply to her case due to her husband being an abusive.

The case has been compared to the ongoing Trayvon Martin case with Zimmerman who claimed the same law as Alexander.

The one that dared you to google "Florida Man" and see what popped up?

I just tried that with "Florida Mom." Sheesh.

Not sure . Do you think the whites will riot if he is not, like they did in Wilmington, NC in 1898. When more than 1500 whites seized an African American newspaper company and burned it to the ground, and then proceeded to destroy their homes and neighborhoods, buring their property, killing their relatives and forcing the others from the city. An appeal to help to the military and president going ignored. More than 2000 blacks were ran out and banished. A small note in history many decide to ignore.

That's disturbing to read and makes me genuinely angry but I think practically everyone acted like savages back then. I hope we're at least moving slowly away from wanting violence like that no matter what happens.
P.S. I hope you realize that question was asked for no other reason than to rile you.

After the 1960's people quickly forgot what race riots used to be.

(It sure sounds like that lady did nothing wrong.)

I'm just praying that there won't be another "L.A riot" during the Rodney King days but anything can happen.

I know, I thought I would use the opportunity to tell a little bit about a part of history that is not well known. The NC Democratic Party didn't acknowledge it and apologize until 2007. It is the only coup to ever occur in US history. It's also interesting to see how the Democratic party was once the complete opposite of what it is today.
