Hey there. Tried posting to an old forum, but got no response. I'm thinking about doing INSANITY for 2 months in lieu of the gym. From what I've heard, it gets you really lean, but I haven't heard about any muscle building benefits. I'm concerned that if I forgo any weight training while doing the INSANITY program, I'll lose muscle mass.

I'm wondering what other people's experiences with the program were. And do you think there are any modifications with weights or kettle bells that could support muscle growth, or at least stave off muscle loss.

Mixed with your mass building/maintaining routine I can't see why it would do anything other than improve your gains
Mass builders tend to neglect cardio/stretching and toning faaaar too much, it's all in the recipie good success

I start week 2, day 2 of Insanity tomorrow. I can't really tell enough to give you any advice. However I've picked up on my protein to compensate because I was already lean. I just want to improve my cardio and overall performance. I plan to use a separate program for muscle building.

Ok, so you're both saying that Insanity itself is not enough of a workout for muscle building/maintaining?

    From the other INSANITY thread:

MikemikeMike saidI have my personal training certification for quite a few years now. I got it for my own edification. I have a corp job. I used it to train myself and a few good friends. I have talked to some guys who I took the PT class with they told me INSANITY will help you build more cardio endurance and lean you down. If your looking to bulk up naturally P90X seems to work better. I talked to 4 people 2 did INSANITY and they look smaller and more lean now and the 2 that did P90X got bigger in muscle size.

Good Luck with your fitness goals. Keep us posted. Never buy these programs they are alot cheaper on E-bay!!

If you follow the Insanity plan verbatim you really shouldn't be doing any extra work in the gym
the plan is pretty intense and you'll likely do more in the way of losing more mass because you;ll crash
so if you're heel bent on gaining and you don't wanna just get lean thru the plan I'd put it off right n ow
