Please support us on Moral Mondays. We can't let the conservaties continue on this path. Art Pope, a multi-millionaire is funding the Tea Party and using it to push their own conservative agendas. So far Pope and his collegues have:

    - gotten gay marriage banned
    - created new voter ID restrictions
    - redrawn our districts to favor themselves in elections
    - used a motorcycle saftey bill to push through anti-abortion measures that will limit the healthcare of women seeking abortions
    -abolished the Racial Justice Act
-cut the benefits for our unemployed from 26 weeks down to a slide scale of 12 to 20 weeks

They are still planning on creating:

    - The Anti-Worker Constitutional Amendment: A so-called “right-to-work” amendment, which depresses worker wages by cutting back unions’ ability to collectively bargain for wages and benefits.

    - A State Sponsored Religion: Eleven Republicans, including the state’s House Majority Leader, backed a resolution proclaiming that the Constitution “does not grant the federal government and does not grant the federal courts the power to determine what is or is not constitutional,” and then decreeing that North Carolina could establish its own state religion.(I think they dropped this)

    - End pay supplements for teachers who have graduate degrees

    - Remove the child fatality task force, an agency aimed at reducing our infant mortality rate

    Tolerant Tuesdays and Thursdays
    Freedom Fridays
    Solidarity Saturdays and Sundays

    Wednesdays -- any suggestions?

Maybe they want NC to secede from the Union, like those folks in Texas.

Far left socialist liberals: you need to put forth federal constitutional amendments or move to a more liberal state.

the state is beautiful. it's the political leaders (?) that are in charge now that want to get into steamrolling over anything that is even remotely sensible. for a political group that wants 'government out of everything' they sure as hell want to get into women's reproductive choices.

The place has a holier than thou attitude. A lot of them are bigoted but pretend to be open minded.

NC does not suck. I'm a native and there are plenty of intelligent, forward-thinking people here. (The Triangle area has one of the highest numbers of PHDs in the country.) Unfortunately, our Govt. is currently controlled by the Republican extremists. Many brave people and friends of mine are fighting this by protesting week after week at the capitol, deliberately getting arrested and filling the legislative bldg.
Making blanket statements about a certain state (country, county, etc.) "sucking" or being "holier than thou" does nothing except boost your own ego.

I applaud anyone who brings this situation to the attention of the rest of the country. Because these conservative extremists won't stop at NC, or Texas, or Wisconsin, or Ohio, or Virginia, etc. It's not something to run from, it's something to stand and fight and say "no more!" This is not what I want for my beautiful state. Thank all of you for your support and kind words.

Chill! I was talking about "straights" being holier than thou. Did you notice that I added "a lot of" instead of "all"?

And I have no idea why these people think all these changes are a good idea. Our last two Democratic Governors gave their party a bad name, and a shift in public support leaned towards the Republics, a party that has been itching to take control of our state for 40 years. Now that they have control they've gone batshit crazy.
