maltese are supposed to be hypo-allergenic... and they are cute as puppies. look like cotton balls with feet.

A pitbull. With lipstick. Train it to attack the sketchies on K-Street.

There's one up for rescue in Alaska I hear. Some old man drove up there Wednesday and shoved her out of his car and into the cold wilderness.

Well I think a beagle should rank, but whatever they get, I think its great they are going to get one from a shelter.

They should get a boxer. For starters, it's a real dog. Also they are fantastic and patient with kids.

My siblings are prone to allergies so a non-allergenic dog breed is a must. My sister has schnauzers (the small ones) and my brother has standard poodles. Both great breeds and neither are aggressive.

Although considering some of the nutbars that are bubbling to the surface he may want to keep a German Shephard or a Doberman Pinscher around for intimidation purposes.

    I love pugs too....

But I think they should say "Screw purebreds" and get a mixed breed....and rescue it from a shelter.

    I say lab/pit bull mix...

but a pit bull would be really awesome

The only problem is they'd have to constantly keep the dog groomed, but I'm sure that shouldn't be a problem. icon_smile.gif

Keep in mind that one of the Obama girls has allergies, so suggest hypoallergenic dogs.

    Ha! Priceless.

If it weren't for the allergies, I'd say a pug. I'm not a dog person, but I have two pugs that are just great.

Therefore, I'll echo the mutt from the pound sentiment.

Michelle Obama has told the press that they do want to rescue a dog.

Any non-shedding breed or mix would be good. Like a goldendoodle or labradoodle. But, it all depends on how the kid reacts with the allergies.

That's great. I hope she follows through... though I'd be a bit suspicious if they just happen to find a goldendoodle or a labradoodle in a shelter...
