Sometimes the kindness of Complete Strangers is truly inspirational. Tonight, I disembarked my tram with an Indian Woman, onto a completely unlit side-street in pouring rain. As we both began to walk down the road, with her a few steps ahead of me, I awkwardly fumbled with my phone to try and illuminate myself so I wouldn't appear to be a Rapist. She shot a few furtive glances over her shoulder back at me, so I slowed my pace down a bit - again, attempting to send the signal "I'm not going to molest you.. It's cold and raining out and I just want to go to bed too!" To my bewilderment, she stopped, waited for me to catch up, and then offered to share her umbrella with me. In a bizarre mix of confusion, absolute shock, and incredible desire to burst out into Rhianna lyrics, I quite literally was speechless. I finally managed to fumble out a "Thank you," and then we proceed to have a casual conversation about what Winter is like in our respective home countries, as both of us were immigrants to Australia.

Sometimes life shocks you with simple reminders that people are, more often than not, pretty good and decent. Although, I suppose it could be a bit disappointing that these kinds of gestures are so unexpected and random in the first place...

    I'm a very predudice person.
If I'm walking next to a black women, I'll smile and she'll smile back.
If I'm walking next to a white woman, I'll keep my distance.

Random acts of kindness -- doing them and receiving them make the whole day better!
OP, be sure you pay it forward now to someone else!

I didn't have any money for the black taxi to my school one day as I forgot it and left it in my other plazer, I was worried and the lady sharing the taxi offered to pay for me and said no thanks were needed, I was always surprised by that lady, she was nice.

    Nice, JeanDeau!

..and something from a favourite author:

"I know it when, in a rare and wonderful moment,I have a feeling that I am touching someone somewhere where it matters, and for a blessed moment, my heart just lifts up and goes along."
