I've been before, but I wasn't out then. What's good for eating out, nightlife, etc.

If you want a good gay sports bar head to Nellie's

If you want a good gay gay bar head to Cobalt

If you want a good whiskey bar head to Jack Rose

Other cool places to check out are Good Stuff Eatery in Capitol Hill, Two Amy's in Cleveland Park, and the Hamilton for good live music

    Cool, thanks!

What about a good hotel and a good gay/mixed area?

Two blocks south of Cobalt (which is more of a club than a bar) is JR's. -- "the gay Cheers."

There are several threads already on visiting DC.

He just moved to the city. He may not feel comfortable showing someone around. He may also be too busy. It's a little presumptuous to volunteer someone else to do something like this. It puts a lot of awkward pressure on people when you put forth their name for something that they may not want to do.

The ice cream at Dolcezza is very good. It's not far outside of Dupont Circle. I had the cucumber flavor last time and it was nice on a hot day. It's pricey, but worth the money.

Check out the National Mall and see the memorials there; particularly impressive at night.

If you're looking for gay clubs and bars, Logan Circle and Dupont Circle are good bets.
