    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/san-francisco-plane-crash-asiana-airlines-will-sue-ktvu-after-tv-station-used-racially-offensive-names-for-the-pilots-8709470.html

Keep in mind, this is relatively mild compared to British TV constantly comparing Lufthansa to Luftwaffe and and stuff. If we can't make fun of airlines anymore, what is there to laugh about? Also, as far as damage to their reputation, maybe they shouldn't have crashed that plane if they were worried about their reputation.

Thing is, it wasn't a good joke. It was juvenile. And people died.

I am not offended on those jokes but there are people who did and they have the right to voice their opinion. It doesn't bother me at all.

How about stuff where a loss of life didn't occur? I think Asian Airlines' lawsuit is a bit over-the-top, but joking about a tragedy like this is completely tasteless.

If some gay kid got beaten to death and someone made a public joke about it, all you bitches would be up in arms.

Well I can take a joke but people died on this flight so it's kind of crude.

    This
    &
One has to notice the difference between a joke which is fun for everyone and a joke which is insulting, degrading, teasing etc.
    This is the latter type.

Part of me says that it was a mistake probably caused by trying to release the news first, but the other part of me says sue the hell out of them as an example for the media to get it right or pay the consequences icon_evil.gif

... and it was a sick joke

A good joke is well written, has a setup, and a punchline. In this case, it was just plain mockery. Not very imaginative and something a teenager would say.

Also, people died. There is such a thing as "too soon".

I recall someone making a joke thread how the US needs to get over 911 already, that didn't go down well now did it?
