Sweaty Hands causing a lot of problems

So I have a condition called hyperhydrosis, in other words I sweat a lot. It is my whole body, but mainly focused in my hands. As long as I can remember I've been getting made fun of for it, even as recently as the handshaking part of my AF Tech School graduation. I use an anti-perspirant medication on my hands, but I have to leave it on over night, and even then it isn't very effective. It causes me a lot of anxiety, because people want handshakes, and I don't want to gross them out by grabbing them with hands literally dripping, but when I say that I don't like hand shakes they start saying I'm weird anyway. Does anyone else share in this problem? I don't know if there is anything more I can do for a more permanent solution.

you need to toughen up them hands ... are they as soft as a baby's bottom ... a little work in the garden will dry that outer layer nicely

Your genes were like, "INSTA-LUBE HANDS, ACTIVATE!"

But seriously... sweaty palms make hand jobs much easier.

What I'm trying to say is... you would be an amazing date in a dark movie theater.

I'm pretty sure the point here is that he doesn't want to spend all of his life in his room...

OP, have you consulted a dermatologist about this? Prescription antiperspirant are much stronger than what you find in pharmacies. And if nothing else works, there are surgeries/Botox injections for this issue.

When I used to drive tractor trailers my hands were always sweaty because there was no air con in the truck, so I dealt with it two ways. When greeting customers I always wiped my hands with a nice hankerchief, it didn't look wierd at all, and for driving to keep my hands from sliding off the shifter or the wheel i'd rub them in a chalk dish I had on the dash. I bit messy but its just chalk.

I have the same genetic mutation. I stopped giving a shit about it along time ago and things have been working out just fine. Yes, sweaty hands can be a turn off in the professional arena, but who gives a fuck. I usually give the fellow hand shaker some heads up if my hands are sweaty, and if they react like little bitches, then usually this is a sign as to whether these people are worth while or not. Is blessing my mutant friend.

+2 - Talk to your dermatologist is the best bet..Botox injections have successfully reduced in some instances the symptoms of hyperhydrosis.

While this is a problem for you, honestly most of us have no problem shaking a sweaty hand. It's the way you are, it might not be optimal or the optimal condition that you can be, but at present it is how you are... I don't know much about this condition but my hands are generally sweatier than most people's but I am lucky it's not a huge problem that it interferes with my life. I imagine you should take the advice of seeing a dermatologist. I've seen (on TV) laser treatments for hyperhydrosis or was it skin removal - which worked pretty well and is basically a plastic surgery job. But in the meantime, please be proud of your little quirk...and don't hide it. It might help a little.

To people round here, sweating is sexy.

You are gorgeous, don't worry there are worse things that you could have, I know you have heard this before but if people give you a hard time just try and make fun of it, and laugh it off, it confuses most people icon_wink.gif
