New Report Shows Same-Sex Couples Experience Greater Health Disparities

"more likely than individuals in different-sex couples to be treated disrespectfully by staff and providers, perceive a threatening environment, or experience stigma associated with being a sexual minority."

"Broad, structural barriers also contribute to the problem. Individuals in same-sex couples may experience difficulty obtaining health insurance because many employer-sponsored insurance plans do not recognize same-sex unions. And culturally competent providers are scarce."

You are welcome, and my daily actions show my concern, because the work I do, thus my actions show I am one of the good guys doing something, as I am in a position where I do help elderly homosexual couples; but not exclusivly.

But then just because I am also a Bona Fide Homosexual in a long term samesex relationship. I do not see myself as a minority, as my sexuality or relationship do not define me as a whole.

I am also a True Blue Male Blond Aussie.

While I am at work, my relationship does not define me either, or the fact that I have four dogs, and one was paralyzed for six months, and with my loving care not only is she up and walking, but running again.

In fact I feel more at a disadvantage being male than I do, being a Bona Fide Homosexual.

My dear half brother who has lived most of your life as a cowardly straight man. Mate how could you ever understand, as you have never lived your whole life as a homosexual as I have, let alone had the balls to be out and truthful befor you were even a teenager, as I did in the 1960s in the Aussie bush; maybe thats why I never needed a medal to create the illusion of being a man, as you did. Or ever been to the land of Down Under; Oz.

But......... then I don't have to be a snob to lift myself up either, as you do; what a sad sorry life you must of lived, spending most of it in a self loathing state of mind, and blaming people as myself for your very own actions.

But the truth is my daily actions do show I am one of the good guys, and my work does involve helping and caring for aging homosexual couples. But you did not want to print that did you; how sad; but then you have never had the ability to even be truthful with yourself, thus one is not hurt or disappointed.

    There's no place like homo...

You know mate; Oz is a great place to be a homo, and there is no place like home. We look after our sick, no matter single, or in a relationship, straight, homo, bi. But then our government is not our brother and we do not expect it to carry us, thus we have private health insurance and take responsibility for ourselves as well pay for the less fortunate via our taxation.

And in a serious vein, I've had great health insurance for about 8 years thanks to my partner being in the banking/finance industry. For whatever reason, they seem to be way out ahead of a lot of industries when it comes to benefit equality and having diversity programs. I feel quite lucky and I hope the SCOTUS decisions will help improve this for a lot more of our people.

Dear half brother, since you can never be either, you don't have to get your knickers in a knot! But we are not one but many; albeit not all true blue Ozzies are blond.icon_wink.gif

Alice Springs is fantastic. You have to see it to love it.
