Thomas Peters runs the @AmericanPapist thing on Twitter (which tries too way hard to be snarky) while working on behalf of the National Organization "for" Marriage (NOM) as its communications director.

Joe.My.God.According to some of Peters' followers on Twitter, he suffered a broken neck. Peters is NOM's communications director and also blogs for Catholic Voice. We wish him well.

His dad, Edward Peters, serves as the U.S. legal advisor to the Vatican.

A listing of just some of Thomas Peters' Twitter trolling in the past year:

Here's hoping the young man lives longer, and grows wiser.

[jokes] Swimming upstream through lies can be backbreaking work [/jokes], but I believe it's just water this time around. Maybe he struck a wall diving in or something?

Colleagues of his are still saying his extremities (arms and legs) continue to move, which remains a positive development. He is still in critical condition.

Nah, I think he was chasing after the pool boy, and slipped.

Diving I could have understood. My first bud often worried me if we were anchored on an inland waterway out of the channel where you couldn't see bottom and he'd dive off the flybridge. Even with depth finder, there could have been an obstruction. He didn't care. Lived life head first. Well, he's dead.

But I don't see how you'd do that much damage on a flip turn.

I have once or twice in a new-to-me pool hit my head on the wall if I was totally zoned out. I think the last one, about two years ago, was pretty loud. I remember checking for blood. But I didn't feel it in my neck.

Maybe this kid had some degenerative condition to begin with. We think of swimming pretty much as low impact as it gets.

Maybe it's the Holy Lord's judgment for wearing cotton-polyester blend and eating bacon.
