Rafael Nadal won his first tournament since the French Open las year with a 6-2, 7-5 win over Novak Djokovic at the Pacific Life Open. Unlike the women's side, which had numerous top players not show up, The men's field had all but one of the Top 20 players show, so this was a huge win against a strong field and sets up Nadal nicely for the Clay Court season and a run at back-2-back French Open titles (assuming he can keep a little problem named Roger Federer at bay).

It's great for men's tennis that someone besides Federer won a big event like this. Hopefully the '07 season will not be a one-horse race.

I have to agree with you that it was a great day for men's tennis, although I personally wished Novak would have won. However, it was nice to see someone other than Federer win everything.

The Sony Ericsson Open is now getting under way also and here is to hoping someone other than Federer or Nadal wins. Don't get me wrong, I don't want them to lose right away, but I would also like to see someone else win something for a change. Once again, I'm rooting for Novak.
