The russian government is treating the LGBT unfairly, depriving them of their freedom of self expression. Like there is a fucking law making it illegal to say the word 'gay' in public. Head to AllOut.org and donate whatever you can to help out against this crackdown in russia. I already donated to it and they are really close to hit their target of 10K for the cause. The plan:

Hit them where it hurts – the wallet. Push leaders of countries with big economic links with Russia to speak out, by growing our petition to a million signatures and delivering it to key ministers.

Create a storm at the Winter Olympics. Russia hosts the Olympics next year and all eyes will be on them. We could use social media, advertising and petition deliveries to pressure big sponsors like Coca-Cola to speak out.

Build a powerful media presence. Organise press briefings to inspire journalists to write about the Russia crackdown and the courageous people in Russia standing up to the attacks. Over time, that could build into a global media narrative powerful enough to threaten Russia’s reputation and economic interests.

Take it to the streets. Track the movements of President Putin and senior government ministers, so we can mobilise All Out members across the world to take to the streets wherever they travel.

Culture is power. Russian punk protesters have shown how music and culture can be a powerful force against tyranny. When A-list musicians plan to tour Russia, we could launch big email and social media campaigns to ask them to speak out against the crackdown

brokebackpoundin saidallout.org sent you an email too about this huh? icon_lol.gif

personally, am i the only one that thinks this is kinda like a "cold war tactic" where russia is basically being anti-gay for political reasons involving power and the united states and it's allies are being pro gay? i also think that the boston bombings by those two guys has something to do with that too. almost like world war 4 is happening on the low. i think that russia is basically trying to make a comeback to the way they were 30 years ago.

Yes Im subscribed to AllOut. This is the first time I make a donation, usually they only ask for signatures. I like the plan in mind and a few bucks wont make a different in my life but they can make a big difference for the LGBT in Russia.

HETERO_DOLPHIN saidyes for equality but those who are more interested towards the political side,we all know that Russia have so many reasons against what the U.S government has tried to implement in another countries, just see China (im not chinese btw) and BROKEBACKPOUNDIN knows exactly what im talking about.

Thats a totally different issue altogether and it definitely doesnt justify Russia's behavior towards gays. Im from Cuba, a country where the US has funded and organized multiple terrorist acts through the CIA, yet Cuba has one of the most progressive laws in the continent, to protect the LGBT nation wide. I know there are many other issues to worry about but this one in particular is a battle we can win, and one that the poeple on this site can directly relate to, if we dont care, who will?

i think cuba is basically on a whole different plain to be honest.

Compared to russia and most of the developing world, it is. The point is that theres no excuse for Russia to be doing what they're doing. Its not about them hating Americans or about their previous communist status, its about pure intolerance and discrimination and nothing else.

i wholeheartedly agree. the thing is what can we do about it though if it's coming from the head of the government though.

With small donations? Lots. There are plenty of Russian people fighting this, they just need all the help they can get

I just got this email too. It seems that Putin is trying to set himself up as the new Stalin... to wit

    http://www.nytimes.com/2013/07/20/world/europe/judge-frees-navalny-russian-opposition-leader-during-appeal.html?partner=rss&emc=rss&src=ig&_r=0

Anything to get what he wants. I would really like to see the IOC take a stand on the human rights issues with the upcoming winter games in Sochi. I like the idea of a 'media storm' that AllOut referred to in their email, but if nations start boycotting I think that would send a stronger message. The link from the email: http://www.ibtimes.com/sochi-2014-olympics-unsafe-lgbt-community-under-russias-anti-gay-law-activists-warn-1334223?t=dXNlcmlkPTIwNDYwNzM0LGVtYWlsaWQ9MjIxODE=

I find this quite disturbing as well https://www.allout.org/en/actions/gaycureapp It's still on Google Play.
