How do you define diversity? Do you see it on racial terms? Variance of non-ethnic background?

Basically if someone said 'I have a diverse group of friends' or 'our employees are very diverse' what pops up in your mind?

Diversity is having a Klignon and a Ferngi serving on the crew. Now that's true diversity!

It depends, Diverse could mean race, it could also be style, it could be political views, this question is a bit vague

Diversity is that if I have Chinese for lunch, I'd want Italian for dinner. Oh, and that goes for my meals too.

I personally think race. Like when companies say they value diversity but most of the people there are whiter than Rush Limbaugh's ass. Or how the BK Kids back in the day only had two people of color for the longest time and the other 'diversity' was just different types of white people.

Lol I never got how this below was diverse:

    Noun
The state of being diverse; variety.

Sure. But to me diversity is when there are people of different races and ethnic backgrounds. There are other kinds but the first that comes to mind with me is a group like this:

    as compared to this:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equality_and_diversity_(United_Kingdom)

This is a UK-centric phrase, but it covers the topic accurately.

"Equality and diversity is a term used in the United Kingdom to define and champion equality, diversity and human rights as defining values of society. It promotes equality of opportunity for all, giving every individual the chance to achieve their potential, free from prejudice and discrimination.

As the independent advocate for equality and human rights in Britain, a Commission of Equality and Human Rights (EHRC) exists that aims to reduce inequality, eliminate discrimination, strengthen good relations between people and promote and protect human rights. EHRC has a duty to challenge prejudice and disadvantage and promote the importance of human rights, enforcing equality laws on age, disability, gender, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief and sexual orientation and encourage compliance with the Human Rights Act."

Yes I get that. But what I'm saying is that when I think 'diverse' I think surface level and I think multiple races. There are different layers to it yes but if you asked me if a group of all white people was diverse I'd probably say no.

Sorry, "our" kind of Asian; Asian Subcontinent/Indian. Where's their representation?

    Anyway... just making a point.

    Well, you'd be wrong, then.

Diversity applies to any factor which makes someone "different" from other people. It doesn't apply just to race.

Maybe because you have such a race complex, that's why you make that misunderstanding...

I don't have a race complex. I'm a racial realist. When I think diverse I think the cast of Community as compared to Friends.

I think you are a little preoccupied with the state of being black. I mean, shit, you're only one of 40 million African Americans in the USA.

I've not seen Community, but I just did a google image search.

I didn't see any disabled people. How do you think people in wheelchairs feel about there not being a person in a wheelchair? Or no deaf/blind people?

Racially that is more diverse than america actually is...what dont you understand? Blacks are 13% and hispanics less. The pic had 7 people, one black kid, and one hispanicish kid. Asians would be excluded stats wise as they are 4% there and a rounding error. The number of nonwhite people is actually astonishingly high if you think about it. But those are just stats.

    I don't care if we're being honest.

Although they do have disabled supporting characters.

Also what the fuck do you mean preoccupied with being black? I don't walk around screaming 'damn you white man!' And yet because I am one of millions I know I have something in common with most of them. Will I get along with every single one? No but that wasn't my point.

    I rest my case.

You're only concerned about the treatment of people who are like you. You are heartless, racist, sexist and heterophobic, with very little understanding of the world and people outside of your safe bubble.

Case closed. I'm off for a spliff.
