Recent decisions in Britain and New Zealand to legalize same-sex marriages have given gay American couples seeking a destination wedding some high-profile options.

Same-sex weddings will be legal in New Zealand starting August 19. Among the first to be married under the amended marriage law will be a gay couple from Australia who won a contest hosted by Tourism New Zealand. Air New Zealand, meanwhile, is looking for a Kiwi couple to wed onboard one of its jets while in flight.

Same-sex weddings in Britain won’t take place until next summer, but Visit Britain is already in the planning mode.

“We’ve always rolled out a warm welcome for LGBT travelers,” said Sandi Dawe, CEO of Visit Britain, “We hope this new law will result in an increase in tourism to Britain for gay and lesbian travelers who want to marry and honeymoon here.”

I'm not sure of what the point would be, if it means when you get back home it means nothing. It would equal having a weeding in your backyard; if you have one.

But.....to some marriage is more about status than it is love; certainly for those who have already drone it many times already.

My man and I have been together for over well over 20 years, and it seems it will be until death do us part. To us we are already married, and don't need some piece of paper to love or to be loved; we don't need a wedding to be blessed.

Think of it as the hunger games. All the gays(like me)that can get married live in the Capitol. The rest of you bitches fight it out. I'm gonna go to New Zealand and score me a hot husband, and then we'll come back to Maryland and enjoy our rights not changing. icon_lol.gif

Mate but the same could be said right back to you.

Thanks mate but I don't recall ever saying they were, or doing anything to stop them if they want to waste their time. But not everyone has endured and survived what I have either.

Then not everyone is blessed to have the long term relationship I have either, or have the inner peace that I have too.

It's sad that people feel they need some peace of paper to be happy. When happiness comes from with in. Therefore it makes no difference to my life or it's quality if same sex marriage never comes to Oz in my lifetime. I will love Oz till the end.

Actually having a marriage recognized in another powerful country is better than no marriage at all. But not everyone has endured and survived what I have either.
What does your life struggle have to do with anything? Nobody cares.

Then not everyone is blessed to have the long term relationship I have either, or have the inner peace that I have too.
What the hell does that even mean?

It's sad that people feel they need some peace of paper to be happy.
Well, when your little boyfriend of 20 years dies and you have no control over what happens to his body or his belongings, and not one person recognizes you for being part of his life, you'll miss that little piece of paper. That Little piece of paper is what allows the two of you all those rights and more, such as tax benefits and stuff. When happiness comes from with in. Therefore it makes no difference to my life or it's quality if same sex marriage never comes
"Not everyone is you and thinks like you." If your world is perfect, just go back into your hole and let everyone else get the rights they want. Cuz it won't affect you right? to Oz in my lifetime. I will love Oz till the end.

I think one of the worst reasons homosexuals, should get married for is: just because it has become legal.

For one that seems like it has to do more about a political statement than it does about loving someone.

Dear child, and my relationship has been going longer than you have even been breathing. Come back and talk with me when you are a man of say 50.
