Shawnathan saidCan you really call posting a bunch of pictures that you didn't take on a website a blog?

Wait, I'm confused; are we supposed to be, like, doing something intelligent on tumblr?

A lot of blogs are just reposts of other people's content, with added commentary anyways. I think porn + Tumblr took it to a different level. Besides, it was inevitable. Ever since Blogspot started shutting down porn blogs, Tumblr was the obvious replacement.. Unlimited bandwidth, no censorship, easy to follow other members, and reblog.

Before porn took over Tumblr, it was all pictures of food, manicures, duck lips selfies, and overly processed landscape photos. Pretty much where Instagram is at right now. icon_lol.gif

If you're looking for someone's life story play-by-play, Tumblr is not the platform you want. One of its key distinguishing features is that you can reblog other people's content, so it is inherently not a platform for originality.

Which is kinda ironic, since their Terms Of Service states that you can only post original meaningful content. icon_lol.gif

This is yet another one of those instances where I just don't get it. What's their business model? How are they making money? Or is it adverts and my ad blocker is hiding the ads from me?

It's like pinterest but for gays
Forgot the URL. But there's a site that look/functions exactly like Pinterest, but it's all gay adult pics/porn content.

It's like Instagram. Basically, get users hooked on the service, then find a way to make money later. Well, make money for the founder at least. I think he sold Tumblr to Yahoo for around $1 billion.
