Dear Lord. Please, please, please Democrats of New York be smarter than South Carolina Republicans who elected Mark Sanford and don't put this scuzzbucket back in office.

I like the sound of "Mayor Weiner" - imagine having to hear that for the next four years!

What grown ups do on their own time is none of our business. I don't see how this affects why New Yorkers vote on their next mayor,

    +1

agree ... how many others do the same thing ... and NY is full of them, so would they even care? Opens the door for a whole new generation of politicians.

While I do agree that what he does in his personal life should be his business, he's a politician and the game just doesn't work that way.

Considering the fallout from his last sex scandal, you'd think he'd have a little more care than to make the exact same mistake again.

It's too bad that he seems bent on political suicide, because I actually kind of like how outspoken on liberal issues he is/was.

Yes it is all up to the people in New York City. But I will remind you that he lied to his constituents for several days about this when the story broke. For some people it matters if your elected officials lie to those who put you in office and to other voters it does not but he did put himself into a position where he could possibly be blackmailed into divulging government secrets.

Unfortunately Weiner was outspoken but unaccomplished, at least legislatively. He may have brought attention to issues but he had no record of sponsoring or guiding bills.

However, another 'loud mouth' Alan Grayson is becoming quite a legislative machine, actually getting work done for the Progressive Caucus.

Republicans have too many 'non-producers' to count. They love getting in front of the FOX cameras but fortunately for the country, they are doing nothing.

I agree to a point that what grown ups do on their own time is none of our business. On the other had, he is running for Mayor of the biggest city in the country, and one of the most important cities in the world. Surely New Yorkers can expect at least some good judgement from people they elect to public office. Anthony Weiner has shown such incredibly bad judgment that it's astounding. I watched the press conference in which his wife also spoke and it was nothing short of jaw-dropping that this narcissistic fool would even put his wife through such a public embarrassment all for the sake of winning a public office he simply does not deserve.

    I agree 100%.

However, the problem arises when a government official promises a condo and a job in exchange for sexual favors.

i think his wife should run.

But he has shown that he has a great deal of psychological issues that prevent him from holding public office.

I agree, although she's showing incredibly bad judgment by standing by this guy who clearly has no real respect for her whatsoever other than what she can do to help further his own political life.

Charity begins at home and spreads abroad. A public politician's character and self-control issues are absolutely the business of the people he wants to represent.
