We leave early tomorrow for a few days in Key West. First time I felt comfortable with a trip away from home since my husband's open heart surgery 3 months ago.

But he's doing so spectacularly well I think this will be therapeutic, rather than stressful. We usually go to KW about 5-6 times a year, and to NOT go would make him think I consider him too infirm for it, a bad message. This will give him confidence in himself, that all is well and back to normal, that he can be away from his doctors and hospital.

We have our usual suite, and I called ahead this morning to make sure everything is in place, and that the hotel staff is expecting him. I've got reservations for his favorite restaurant, and alerted the owners whom we know. And in half a dozen other places, too, so he'll be received with great anticipation & joy.

This is his birthday week, and he's had a non-stop series of parties and dinners. And now we end in Key West. He's had 3 big dinner parties this last week, and every one was unexpectedly comped by the restaurant, to honor him.

Wonderful guy, and I never cease to be amazed how I got so lucky to have him call me his husband. I think he got the short end of the stick, but I try my best to earn his love. icon_biggrin.gif

Thank you, my love! I promise you we will!

I can't begin to list here the wicked things I have planned for our bed down there. But I've been going to an adult gay sex store for over a month now, and he's gonna see a side to me I don't think he's ever suspected.

If he doesn't come back saying he's never had better sex in all his life, then I'm just gonna retire with my tail between my legs. My reputation is on the line here, and I intend to knock the ball(s) right out of the park. icon_wink.gif

Nut it out of the park (mmmm, park-sex!), but keep your balls CLOSE! That's our motto.

I always do! Not sure how amazing, though.

This was yesterday afternoon right after we arrived, at the outdoor garden bar of our gay male hotel. There was a cowboy theme party later that night, and the bartenders were told to wear something Western. One bartender said he only owned this red print bandana, worn male stripper style to barely cover his junk. What a shame! BTW, that's the private cottage we moved into in the background, very handy.

The bartender allowed me to take his pic, but I didn't impose on those bar patrons who sat around completely naked, having just been in the adjoining swimming pool. icon_biggrin.gif

Some drag queens dropped by the bar, on their way to an evening performance across the street. I loved the striped Speedo on the guy on the right, really featured his lovely ass.

Here's a frontal of the bartender, showing how he wore the bandana to (barely) cover his junk.

Thanks! We're thinking of staying an additional day, as we evaluate how my husband does. This is his first extended trip away from home since his open heart surgery, so I'm keeping things low-demand and flexible.

We toured a cottage on the grounds yesterday, same cost as our 2nd-floor loft suite we always take, and if we add a day I may have us moved there to sample it. With an eye to this November when we'll be here 5 days following our arrival with the SMART Ride, and maybe earlier for a quick stay in late September, too.

It lacks the spectacular veranda right outside our French doors, that overlooks Duval Street and where they stage the New Year's Eve "Sushi Drop" in the giant red high heel, but it also eliminates the stair climbing (no elevators in these older guest houses). And we'd still have guest access to the veranda as we wish, to enjoy cocktails as we watch the tourist parade below, or do a little Internet as I am now.

The cottage also has the advantage of being just feet from the garden bar and the pool, so we'd have naked men right outside our door as we emerge, as well as drinks just a stagger away. We could even leave our room naked ourselves, to enjoy those features au naturel as others do, but we wouldn't want to offend our fellow guests. icon_redface.gif

This time some pics of me, floating around the hotel pool. It amazes me how light my skin is, living in Florida, but I don't sun bathe, and spend little time in a swim suit. So I have a shorts & T-shirt tan.

    BUENAS NALGAS, PAPI!

Key West seems to have a lot of life going all year.

Is there much to do there besides the party life?

Tons of things. You can take sailboat cruises, especially to see the famous sunsets, and also go out fishing, snorkeling or scuba. Or see the sunset from land at Mallory Square with a drink in your hand (though sometimes that's a mob scene).

I like the beaches because they don't have heavy surf, the water often as calm at water's edge as a lake. And in some places it remains shallow fairly far out, and gets quite warm, into the mid-80s, which I also like. There are hang glider rides you can take over the water.

Tourist attractions include the Mel Fisher Museum, home to one of the most famous Spanish treasure ship wrecks in the world, the Atocha. And the entire section of Key West known as Old Town is itself a museum, many of the buildings & homes from the 1800s, built by shipwrights from salvaged wooden sailing ships, when the sea was the only way here and no suitable wood for lumber grew on the island.

There are sightseeing "Conch Trains" (locally pronounced "konk"), multi-car street trams that give you a guided tour of Old Town. And a special Gay Attractions train tour on Saturday, that highlights all the gay guest houses & bars (fewer & fewer these days), and homes belonging to prominent gay people like Stephen Sondheim.

I could continue but this is getting tldr. Google Key West and explore.

Thanks! Fortunately you can't see my gut dragging the pool bottom. Still, I suppose I could be worse at 64.

Here's the cottage we switched to for our extra night here, to see if we like it. Right next to the pool & bar, the sound is a concern, and the loss of the Duval balcony we had. But it's bigger and no stairs is good for us, so we'll see how we like it.

Aristoshark saidDid you see Tropical Mark at all? Are you in contact with him?

No, he's not actually on Key West proper, just a little north of here. I should phone him to see if he's down here. Thanks, it slipped my mind.

Thanks! This is a chill-out trip for us, following my husband's surgery, not attempting too much but simple R&R. And we've done it all before down here, anyway, no need to cram 500 things into 5 days. Just kick back and relax. icon_cool.gif

OK, we caved, staying another day! Not returning now until Tuesday, just enjoying this too much. icon_biggrin.gif

I originally only booked us until Sunday, so we wouldn't feel pressure to stay longer and be disappointed if this turned out to be too much for my husband. My plan was to evaluate him, though of course he wasn't really aware of that, lest that also pressure him.

So I made it seem like the reason for extending was my own weakness for Key West, rather than his lack of physical weakness. First adding yesterday (Monday) and this morning stretching it to Tuesday. But that'll be it I think.

YAY!!! And he looks so refreshed and happy! Not to mention that as a special deal for us I got this 3-room cottage for $99 both nights! Normally goes for upwards of $400 per sliding seasonal & event rates. icon_eek.gif

It pays to know how to bat those eyelashes. icon_wink.gif

LOL! So our latest Key West sojourn isn't over quite yet.
