Endless Chatter: The Bandwagon Bully Mentality.....

Endless chatter / verbiage---we all partake in it. Any OPEN FORUM allows for unsolicited threads to be made on whatever topic any OP thinks fitting. But who deems the topics worthy to be discussed & elaborated on? Who will be the one to censor any member's freedom of speech? Who's point of view will be the ultimate decider on which threads should be responded to (included) & which nixed (excluded)?

Members develop a bully "we" mentality where they think their viewpoint is the end-all & is the only one that counts. They start dismissing any thread & any OP that they don't like. The audacity that a gay minority band together to start censoring other members on this site is beyond irony. Personal smear attacks on the level of high school/ Romper Room ad hominem antics makes it hard for anyone who wants to open up. Seems if the OP were some hot to trot stud who looked like say Henry Cavill or Chris Evans or Channing Tatum, no one would dare dismiss or mock anything they had to say; in fact, the mockers would probably bend over backwards to listen to whatever they had to say because "they" appeal to members's prurient desires.

Who thinks this bandwagon bully mentality & selective blindness is deplorable & the perpetrators are nothing but bitches?.....

Of course I probably won't get much response since the ones refraining from answering this thread "are" the perpetrators icon_smile.gif .....

I dont know but in my thread (a few down) I've noticed one particular member has taken an instant dislike to me, who knows why and really who cares, but it is interesting that often those with an opposing view are hell bent on just being an asshole, as in they dont even read any of the other posts before theirs

Curiosly I've never even read a post on the What's On Your Mind? threads, much less contributed something there. As soon as a thread goes over 100 posts I tend to avoid it, but thousands is just ridiculous. Am I missing something important?

    True that.

I think that lots of people, who in the old days had a hard time interacting in social situations were always out of sight of the majority. Now they have access via forums into a version of reality, and we get to see so many more of them. (Apologies for my syntax, its friday night and my wine is kicking in)

For me, it's when you sincerely ask for advice or help and your topic gets maybe two or three replies when what you want is just someone to talk to to help you through the situation you are going through.

It can be disturbing at times, however this is just a by-product of these kinds of forums regardless of what site you're on. No one is twisting anyone's arm to come into a forum and comment. My feeling is that if you can't take the heat, get out of the forum. That is in no way condoning the bully-like behavior, but the bullies stick out like a sore thumb and they expose themselves to be exactly what they are with every post they make. They aren't fooling anyone. That in itself is vindication enough for me.

    Johnny Sunshine hates his life.
You can see it in his posting.
His wit is dull as a butter knife
So there's little sting to his endless roasting.

He thinks he's badass but he's sad.
    From simple manners, always straying.
Maybe he didn't get love from his dad
Or maybe too much, If you know what I saying.

"Who thinks this bandwagon bully mentality & selective blindness is deplorable & the perpetrators are nothing but bitches?"

I certainly do but the scary part is, if I confront the bullies here, I'm often accused of attacking people for no reason. I don't get it. But who said the bullies fight fair? They can dish it out but they can't take it.

    spgem,
Like Trollileo, there is one topic in particular that was rather appalling and what has flavoured a lot of other topics you post.

You might try not constantly quoting your op to get it to the front page of RJ to get attention.
My topics, few as they are, often drop through the forums like a heavy stone into oblivion, and that's OK because it means there is little interest at the time, and if such interest does occur, that topic will get resuscitated by that interested person with their post.

You might also consider that talking about the same thing or asking the same kind of question repeatedly by starting new topics begins to get stale as well, and starts to resemble spam.

You might also try not baiting by inferring those who do not post on your topics are (insert insult here).

Respect goes two ways, but starts with the actions of one.
