The almost-daily “Solidarity Sing Along” began during the 2011 budget protests, when Republicans launched an assault on public employee unions. In July, a judge ruled that groups of more than 20 people could not gather in the Wisconsin Capitol without a permit. Police have issued more than 100 citations to protesters so far."

There is also mention of the Koch brother's financing the assault on public employee unions.

Wrong. the taxpayers of Wisconsin finally had enough with the so called servants of the people making more than the average worker and still demanding more. So the taxpayers elected a man and state wide representatives who had the guts to take on the public unions and you know what?, the taxpayers won !! The state is better off for it and the money sucking unions have pretty much crumbled. If the unions were so strong more than 60% of those who now don't pay dues would still be in them.

Are union workers exempt from taxes? How'd taxpayers let them get this exemption?

No, Death Valley is in another US State. icon_rolleyes.gif

Actually my ex-BF's family DOES has an extensive Wisconsin State park named after them, because of land they donated, I've been there.

Wouldn't it be ironic if you and he were related? It would certainly add validation to my dumping him. icon_biggrin.gif

Wrong. It was the democrat run public unions that consistently raped the tax payers of our state. That's why we elected Scott Walker....to clean it up, and that's exactly what act 10 did. It provided local districts the tools to use to reign in automatic spending increases for public unions, not to mention those poor public union employees pay a small portion towards their health care and towards their pensions, something private employees have to do themselves. But if you are for Obamacare then you would understand it...its called wealth distribution. Actually Walker has been very tolerant with these left wing lunatics breaking the law and trashing our state capitol.

This is the exact same thing that happened to most older northern cities when they fell under long time monopoly control of the corrupt democratic party. Crooked organized labor along with the lazy freeloaders in the inner cities just ran roughshod over the taxpaying, working people and the business community. It is no surprise that many people had their fill of the democrats and their endless pandering to organized labor and the unmotivated urban poor and started moving out of these cities en mass to the suburbs first and when the suburbs became fucked up by falling under strong democratic control then people and business just left the Northeast and Midwest for greener, cheaper pastures in the sunbelt states. Gov. Scott Walker is fully justified in clamping down hard on these public employee unions with all their expensive perks. I wish that we could have that here in New York but our dysfunctional government in Albany is so controlled by public employee unions and welfare providers that any type of major reform is impossible. That is why New York still has the highest taxes in the US. We still cannot ever get a state budget on time. It is the same old shit over and over. I am getting thoroughly disgusted with New York. I am also getting thoroughly disgusted with my hometown of Buffalo because they will never get rid of the incompetent, corrupt democratic party in city hall. New York desperately needs either a Scott Walker or a Rick Snyder as governor to clean up the mess in Albany. The City of Buffalo needs to be rid of the democratic party for the next two decades or it will never recover from the urban crises that has gripped it for the past 50 years.

Not only that but Walker also balanced our state budget which was 2 billion in the hole thanks to previous Gov. Doyle (D) and now the state had a surplus of 2.5 billion dollars which Walker and the republicans have given back to the tax payers....an average of over $500 per year. The democrats plan was...go figure... to spend it.

He's a crook, but he didn't go down last year. I doubt he will this year, either. As you can see here, the Right Wing fanatics have their Koch Brothers talking points down pat. It's like listening to the same person. All they do is paste this crap from the same source.

It is too bad that we cannot get a governor like Scott Walker in New York. My home state is in serious financial trouble yet the taxes are the highest in the US. However most of my fellow New Yorkers are blind sycophants to the tax and spend democratic party so that untrustworthy sneak Andrew Cuomo will get reelected. The only kind of economic development that interests him is more casino gambling. Now New York has serious problems with gambling addictions but our tax and spend dumbass governor thinks casinos are positive economic development. Rather than cutting taxes and improving the business climate, Mr. Cuomo would rather bring in more predatory casino gambling and keep state taxes prohibitively high. Go figureicon_mad.gif

All you EXTREMIST LIBERAL HENS just keep covering up for the serious shortcomings and corruption of your beloved democratic party. This is the same political organization that destroyed most older northern cities with their endless pandering to both crooked labor unions and the lazy freeloaders that populate most inner city neighborhoods. If you want to know why cities like Milwaukee, Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland, Buffalo and many others are still in horrendous shape, thank the democratic party for iticon_mad.gif
