Women (or worse yet, men) who speak with a rising inflection at the end of each (declarative) sentence, as though confirming that they have absolutely no confidence in what they are saying.

Picking teeth or being clingy sounds annoying. But in all honestly, anything can become annoying with too much of it, such as talking or jokes.

Flaking annoys me too. I'll accept it, but an excess really ticks me off.

These days my biggest annoyance is people with no subway etiquette (e.g. assholes who storm onto the train before letting people get off, people who don't step all the way in on a crowded rush hour train). I have to hold myself back from going off on the bastids!

I get a bit heated, obviously (but such is my m.o.). That said, a little bit of manners and courtesy goes a long, long way. And that goes for every area of life, not just the 4 train at 8:40 AM.

Walking into Starbucks in the morning before work and seeing every.single.person. on line glued to their cell phones, oblivious to the planet that's all around and in front of them. How self-absorbed we've all become! And how ADHD. icon_wink.gif

Phone addiction is becoming a chronic problem, as you can see by other posts in this thread.

As I type this out on my iPhone when I should be sleeping.

    Disrespect
    Discourtesy and bad manners
Lack of interest in self-sufficiency and self-education
Lack of self-respect (as exemplified by the above)

People who don't save and then expect you to lend them money on demand

People who use others for attention and sex and then drop them

People who never clean up after themselves in your home

People who expect them to help you do everything for them, and then never offer to help you with the things you need help with

What about the same behavior on elevators? It's amazing how many people don't realize that it's much easier to get ON the elevator if you let people who need to exit get OFF first.

We had an interesting debate about this last week in Hawaii. We were people-watching during an outdoor lunch in a busy area and everyone who wasn't talking on their phones was transfixed by the screens. Some were thumbing them, some were just gazing. We wondered are they:
    a) selfless, and using the devices as a method to connect with the world for the betterment of mankind and/or to reach out to friends
    or
    b) selfish, and either choosing to limit their attention to only their focus of it and/or to indulge in their own interests and self-interest?

It's difficult to know. Our kids are well-behaved in this regard and whenever they are necessarily distracted by their phones, they make it brief after excusing themselves. But SO MANY DONT.... and it's hard to take on faith that they're all exigent circumstances.
