metta8 saidGays abused, raped in Ecuador clinics to cure them of homosexuality
I feel like you just sit there and google "bad things that happen to gay people around the world that Americans can't do anything about" and then post a new topic.
Since when has our borders kept us from taking action even when--even especially when--we are not even at the reigns of power within our own country.
Before my time students protested our power structure and stopped a war a half a world away. In 1970 four students at Kent State died, protesting for the peace of people in a country not theirs.
Later, when I was in college, students protested against the power structure of Iran: Down with the Shaw of Iran. I ran the Shaw down. And in 1979 his regime fell.
Metta is showing you that people are torturing and maiming and killing your gay brothers and sisters. Why do you complain instead of answering the call to arms?
There's nothing you can do?
You can't fight for more rights here so that we have more say within our own power structures to influence policy overseas?
You can't organize financial boycotts? Tourism boycotts?
You can't pressure your own religious organizations with financial boycotts to put pressure on theirs?
You can't fight for immigration policy to bring gay brothers and sisters in harm's way to the safety of our country?
You can't even tweet about it?
Tell me again what you can't do.
