Hey I was wondering if anyone out there ever got a six pack after having surgery where the abdomen was opened. I had it twice once back in 1986 and 1987. I do ab exercises and the like, but no six pack as you can see in my pics. Everything else, no problem. Any hints?icon_question.gif

I've seen my share of soldiers with six pack abs and surgical scars (on various parts of the abdomen) so it's possible... but i've had my lower abdomen opened and have never seen one ab... but i blame that more on me since I was starting to see them before i got a pudgy tummy thing going on...

a 'six pack' abdomen is more about having less body fat than doing a bunch of ab exercises. if, as you say, you allready do them and are not seeing results- they are probably just hiding for now. try running or doing sumthing cardio related (continue abs tho) along with your weight lifting routine. it worked for me icon_smile.gif

After surgery it seemed to me that the muscles where the surgery occurred sagged a bit. I just recently noticed it is finally back to where it was before. I did recently loose about five or ten pounds but I do think the is a healing process involved as well. It may take a few years though.

Unless there is residual weakening of the muscle wall
which would likely result in herniation of the muscle a man post surgery has the same chance of obtaining a six pack as any other man
    just takes some sweat equity

No weak muscles noted. The surgery was 1986-87. I do the lean diet thing, natural foods only, no soy, but still no six pack. I'm kinds just resighned to the fact it may never happen. But my arms, legs and chest respond great.
