ADMIN CHRIS: Is Reviving RealJock Merchandise Doable?

I don't believe RJ offers any brand merchandize online at present, like we had when the site offered a premium paid membership option. I've got a couple of T-shirts with the former running man logo, but those items became unavailable when this site went totally free.

Any interest in having stuff with the new RJ logo on it, especially gym wear and associated items like water bottles, towels, caps, sweatbands, etc? That we can order online?

RJ Admin isn't geared to be running an online business, but that can be handled by licensing to an existing company that already operates such a business. RJ members would deal with the official licensee, who would provide and stock the merchandise, process the payments, mail the product to buyers, and pay a licensing fee (one-time or continuing) and a portion of the profits to RealJock.

RJ would have little to do but assist with product development, advertise the items on this site, and collect its portion of the profit. Benefits would be satisfied members, additional income for RJ, and free advertising. And I see no reason why the licensee couldn't offer the RJ logo items to the general public in its catalog, not limited as exclusive members-only items, which increases both sales and site advertising, with heightened interest in RJ and greater member retention.

Comments, please, with hopefully Chris monitoring this thread.

You're probably better off emailing Chris than just posting your idea here. I doubt he's sitting at a desk reading forums all day long. He's very good at replying to emails though, also very reasonable guy that I'm sure would give consideration to anything suggested and then make a decision that was in the best interest of the site. Or you could just stop by their office if you lived in SF! icon_lol.gif

Add me to the list of people who would buy RJ merchandise (like a T-shirt)! I think it's an awesome idea.

Thanks for your input. It's not possible to know what Chris reads or doesn't from the Forums. But the few times I've emailed Admin in the last year the "Mail Sent" confirmation didn't appear, so I wasn't sure the email has been getting delivered.

And besides, I did want some discussion in the forum. This idea won't work if no one wants it, and if there are practical objections they should be surfaced & discussed.

I dunno. I'm not feelin the new logo. But then again, I do think it's better than the old logo.

Good, so would I! But is there any other interest here? I enjoy showing my "colors" in public, and helping to promote something I like very much.

It's not really a contest between the old & new logos. Rather, whatever the current logo is, would we like to own items that display our RealJock affiliation?

I know I would. I'd proudly wear & use RJ stuff, and thereby promote this site. Anyone else?

Forgot to mention another reason I'd like to have RJ-branded gym & sports wear: fellow RJ recognition. I think it'd be great to be wearing an RJ baseball cap or T to the gym or in public and have another member come up and introduce himself.

Granted, guys who are in gay stealth mode wouldn't want that, but wearing RJ items isn't mandatory. Or wearing them everywhere, maybe just at the gay club or in private settings with friends. I believe there could be enough interest among 300,000+ members to make having items for sale popular & profitable.

This was something considered back in 2008. I've cropped the heads of these two RJ guys because I didn't ask their permission to show but the speedos look good on them!

I would like a t-shirt if it was a nice, soft cotton t-shirt. I wouldn't want a scratchy, standard, loose to the body Fruit of the Loom or Gildan t-shirt so often used for company logo shirts.

Here's the 2 T's with the old logo that I got for paid RJ subscriptions, when we had that option. The labels read "American Apparel", they're 100% cotton in grey (I think Navy was the other color choice?), and they still feel pretty soft to me.
